Put this song on. As it plays, imagine a happy couple in a posh restaurant laughing and swigging wine. This scene becomes a cleaner fluffing up pillows in a honeymoon suite, which then moves out of the window into a vast expanse of countryside. You have a brilliant hotel commercial.

I love this song, but I totally just did this and it worked.

Are they eating breakfast after some scrumping or is it dinner before some porking?
These things matter.

I think the former, because the sunshine is streaming through the window as if it's definitely a.m.

I'm not (any more) one of those people who equals depressive as good in music by default so I'm fine with this one. ITW vibe in the best possible way. It's one of those songs that are associated with good mood and this isn't a bad thing.
I'm waiting to hear the lossless version for a final judgement but i have some issues with how the vocals are mixed here.

So they are alcoholics.
I'm really disappointed in this couple.

But that's why it's the perfect hotel commercial; because however mainstream it looks on the surface, it's morally ambiguous.

I'm not sure why I've just noticed, but the verse changes key halfway through along with Ed's singing. Very similar to what happened in GSMF.

Do you like GSMF? I do but I'm not a fan of Ed's singing on the album.

I like GSMF to an extent, yeah. I don't think the surf guitar intro / outro works well, at all. But I do like the song proper, and I like how it shifts key from low to high throughout the song. I'm not sure I have many Ed complaints throughout the album, just two or three songs. Not this one particularly, although I like that he's less screamy in these. I don't like screamy Ed, I prefer him to stay within his range. When he's screaming on the end of LB, I think they did the right thing to turn him down in the mix, as if he's singing the high stuff to himself away from the mic.

i think that GSMF is the least Backspacery song on BS.

those 5 studio songs we've heard about initiate the thought that BO'B mostly carried on with the band's instincts as on GSMF. not so inspired and clever parts mostly but it sounds much more like a healthy band on those than on the rest of Backspacer. Backspacer sounds calculated.

I am holding out a lot of hope on that note, Harmless. I'm hoping it's not too much hope. Haha

And to be fair, there's a lot of good stuff going on in this set of songs, but they aren't hitting homeruns in my book yet and then those damn foreign BoB elements all over the place once again and a return of the Backspacer cheez I'd more than had my fill of.
Just keep swimming, just keep swimming... and hoping.
