What’s wild is he was flying home to England. After that, how do you travel home now? On a plane? That would be a mindfuck

Was thinking about that. Can’t even begin to imagine that much of a headfuck.

He had to climb over his brothers body to get out of that plane? Poor guy

I look at the general question like this: you're in a machine doing something your body can't do. So it's not much different than driving or riding in a train. But, if something goes wrong with the machine or the operator, you are in an inherently untenable position. So the risk isn't unusual, but the downside of failure is steep.

In all honestly, I don't fly because 1) I haven't gotten my shit together to get a real ID yet, 2) it's getting pretty expensive (plus you have to rent a car when you get to where you're going), and 3) there seems to be an increasing breakdown in the basic logistics. Extremely delayed flights, missing connections, overbooked planes. Not looking to pay a few hundred dollars to feel like livestock in a time warp.

I think I've enetered full economic downturn thinking. Limit travel to a day's drive. Eat less meat. Drive broken cars. The era of superabundance that the airline industry is so emblematic of is over.

i was on a flight this week on a small plane that had a really rough landing

hit on the front tire real hard rather than a gradual let down

was like BOOM we landed

def made me want to avoid small planes again in the future

4 seats across

amazing those tiny airplane tires are what a plane lands on

Off topic, but I guess I can't fly because I'm lazy and haven't gotten a RealID. Guess I should put that on my todo list soon.

You still can, you just apparently have to go through extra steps at security when you arrive so it takes way longer

Short of crashing, this is my nightmare. I feel like real noticeable turbulence was rare not that long ago and now with climate change it’s becoming the norm. Ugh!
