All about finding time. My wife has said 'No way am I watching that!' and pretty much all my TV watching time is with her
It's not that horror-leaning. There are some pretty intense parts, but it's mostly a space drama.

(Just tell her that)

Spoiler: show
I loooove that T. Ocellus is a “good guy” after all. I’m grinning. What a twist. :D
Teng is just a certified creep; that’s all.

Based on the last scene, Morrow clearly has a deeper, almost familial connection to the Yutani family which now is, in fact, the only real family he has left.

He’s doing what he’s doing partly for that but also to seek vengeance against Boy, whose actions led to the deaths of a crew he was mostly loyal to until it became clear they were all fucked no matter what he did.

I liked the episode a lot but Hawley’s and the crew’s ceilings, while excellent, aren’t at the master level of Scott or Cameron or even Alvarez. Inconsistent atmosphere and some pedestrian scoring that blunted some of the tension. Some of Hawley’s oddball quirks came out a little too much for my liking with the characters and their weird-as-hell reactions.

Also, either she’s a world class sprinter or that’s the slowest xenomorph of all time. Pick up the pace, man! And, back to the quality, stop showing full, direct looks at the xeno. It’ll either look bad /amateurish (like it did in this episode) or it’ll rob from the tension.

Reading through online discourse and opinions are split over whether or not she was warning or distracting…c’mon, I want to root for her!

Edit: it was distraction, per Hawley. :(

This kind of took me out of it a little. We've seen how fast those bastards are!

Still, excellent episode.

The xenomorph catching the door with its tail was pretty wicked.

As fun as that episode was, I suspect it will not fare well after repeat viewings. The sheer idiocy of that crew is hard to stomach.

Yeah, it's pretty wild how this crew is even dumber than the Prometheus and Covenant crews.

They lost personnel securing these organisms. They know what they're capable of. And still they don't suit up while dealing with the little shits. At least those other crews did most of their dumb shit before they knew what they were dealing with.

(I also read an interesting take that this dumbass crew might be "third shift"/weakest on board because they're two weeks away from completing a 65-year mission, and the hard work is already done. I don't know. It's possible, I guess.)

High stress job in confined quarters with people you hate for years at a time. You'd all make bad choices as well.

The dumb crew in an Alien movie is as trope as the xenomorph.

Obviously, the things they do are dumb, but they're also real.

If you put poor, oppressed people into long-term, high stress situations they will fumble. It's human nature.

The ship is being attacked. The captain just died. The new captain's fuck buddy has a thing on his face, oops, no he's dead. That creepy Asian guy is jerking off onto the pods. The mechanic's assistant is dumber than a box of rocks.

They're all stretched beyond their breaking point by their shitty employer. They scared, horny, drunk, angry, poor, tired, and depressed. Any ONE of those things would lead to mistakes. All seven layered on top of each other, it's a wonder any of them managed to tie their shoes.
