Not sure what you mean, Nolan has a bunch of truly missteps, specially Tenet. But its true that in his movies there is always going to be at least a great scene.

I think its first time i dont care for a Nolan´s trailer that much, looks quite unremarkable for him, but it could also be i dont care for The Odyssey at all.

Im also kinda sure the movie will look amazing, specially if the guy is using the canvas of Imax for the whole thing.

Oppenheimer was the first time that I was ready to bail in Nolan before the movie came out, and that movie ended up being stupid. So... I'm worried this will be stupid too. I hope I'm wrong. I never want movies to fail but I think this dude had moved to a place I can't relate to.

It's weird how this dude was on track to be one of the most interesting artists of his generation and has turned into a predicably pretentious bore.

Oppenheimer being stupid was something i dont recall i heard. It was a bloated movie, and i wont see it again probably ever, but like i said in every movie there is at least an amazing scene to behold.

I love the scope of his movies and the fact he is able to do them as he wants.

The extended preview shown in IMAX looked pretty damn good to me. :shrug:

If this sucks I will be super pissed off. It definirely has the potential to suck. DAMN IT.

yeah, calling it "stupid" is... stupid. you may not like his style or themes, but his movies are objectively layered with... all kinds of shit

The movie has nothing compelling to say. It looks great, sure. Nolan can get an image. But the movie is like watching a Wikipedia article.

Hopefully, this one is more interesting. Fingers crossed.

To me the critique that it felt "like reading a Wikipedia article" implies a literalism and dryness that ignores how expressive it is in its filmmaking. It’s dense, but it’s also highly subjective, and almost operatic in how it uses music, interiority, rhythm, and structure. The parts of it that I liked, anyway

it's fun to watch conflict unfold and (sometimes) resolve. there's a hell of a lot of internal and external conflict for the characters in Oppenheimer, and for the rest of humanity as well, as we're all implicated by the creation of the atomic bomb, and its ontology and genealogy are fascinating

I just couldn't disagree more.

But I'm obviously wrong. People really loved it. And that's cool. A single piece of art can't be for everyone.

I think i could understand your point of view with all the bulk of dialogue around it, sometimes it was a non stop machinery of people talking and talking. But like jorge said i also loved the structure, montage, sound design and framing, they were really powerful in exploring the overall complexity of the subject.

Nolan is probably one of the last people I would pick to make an Odyssey movie. His sensibilities are way too grounded to pull it off.

I think it's going to be great. He's the perfect director for a huge epic like this. He'll keep it grounded while creating a gigantic fantastical spectacle.
