Go to Settings - Board preferences - Edit display options - Display avatar position and switch the dropdown from right of page to left of page. That's on desktop, obviously.

Jorge, go to your User Control Panel - User Preferences - Edit User Options and switch the dropdown from "Have a nice day" to "Get Bent!"

Now that we have the latest and greatest bbphp, I believe there is a way to forego img, tweet, etc tags completely. May cost money though.
