Birds in Hell wrote:The date on this recording is the most interesting thing.Strat wrote:Three tracks from their rehearsal dated August 5 1991.
Two improvs.
Wash and a snippet of some Jeremy riffs.
Wash is interesting because they break down the bridge and outro and talk about how many times to play through it.
Matt Chamberlain's last show with the band was 3 August 1991, Dave Abbruzzese's first show was 23 August 1991. No shows were played inbetween.
Is this a recording of Dave's first rehearsal with the band? If so, I can see why this may have been chosen as a particularly interesting recording to leak.
Birds in Hell wrote:Also, how's this chatter after the opening improv!
The band reveal so little of their internal dynamics, this kind of stuff feels both voyeuristic and bizarrely captivating.
(Poor Mike.)
Stone: so, Wash?
Ed: Does McCready know we’re playing?
Stone: It doesn’t really...I think today will be good maybe without McCready, unless you want to call him.
Jeff: I bought some the other night and guilt made me not eat them, I bought some peanut M&Ms.
Stone: The guilt these days.
Jeff: It’s the only way I can fucking - candy, is like, my worst thing. I just have to not eat it at all...
Stone: … or else.
No, it's definitely real.VinylGuy wrote:its a fake ?

So going out on a limb here and might be wrong...
These are pieces of the Dave A. tapes. There’s one on the collector page listing that has the same date and it’s labeled as Dave’s first rehearsal.
The instrumental is far more intriguing... the file name matches an entry on the famous “Stuffins/Stuffings” tape. (Side B track #5 instrumental)
There’s also another Anonymouse post that says Snunday.
COULD WE FINALLY GET WHAT IS CONSIDERING THE COLLECTING HOLY GRAIL HERE IN A FEE DAYS?

Re: Anonymouse?
We still make records to be listened to — not that everyone will listen to a record track one to twelve in a row or side A or Side B — but we still make 'em in case somebody does want to listen to it like that, that's how we make em…

Re: Anonymouse?
We know that Matt Chamberlain's second to last PJ show was on August 3, 1991 at the famous RKCNDY in Seattle during which the Alive video was filmed. Matt would only play one more show with the band, August 19th (at the same venue) for the record release party of Ten.

At some point between these two shows, Dave Abbruzzese auditions and is hired to replace Matt for the foreseeable future. The amazing Pearl Jam Twenty book lays out this time period in the bands own words (per page 59):

Per the book, Dave is in attendance at the August 3rd show in Seattle.
According to this article online (https://www.dallasobserver.com/music/un ... ar-6405052 - Un-rock Star by Howard Wen, published October 24, 1996), Dave flew from Dallas to Seattle to audition with PJ on August 4, 1991:

Later in the same article, it also confirms that Dave used Matt's kit for his audition:

The best sources are obviously first-hand so i can say with certainty that Dave's first audition with PJ (minus Mike) was August 5, 1991. This is confirmed from an original, hand-embellished cassette by none-other than EV himself (contents on the tape can be read about here: https://www.collectionzz.com/Cockage/pe ... ust-5-1991)

There is a separate cassette labeled Pearl Jam - Demo 1, Sept. 91 (in Jeff's handwriting) which contains 6x tracks on Side B. Four of those tracks are finished / polished instrumentals. The last of those instrumentals is the studio version of the improv from the First Rehearsal - August 5, 1991.
