Are alternate versions or demo versions of PJ songs acceptable for the 2nd and/or 3rd categories?

Related question - Does each track have be an official release?

i think the two wilcard tracks don't have to be official releases.

i pmed chud this question, but it's relevant to all: do releases like LO2L, LOTL, Gorge Box Set, etc, count in the soundtrack/fan club/rarity category, or only in the wildcard category?

I think he'd actually go with NAIS.

I think it should likely be pointed out right now that great mix tapes dont necessarily reflect the way a show should/would go.

YL to open a mix tape is a bad call likely but your mix shouldnt have to flow like a setlist - they are not one in the same

Having grown up in the 1990s, I do have a particular affinity for the science of making the proper mix CD. To that end, I obsessively thought about the order of the songs, picking the songs based on moods and themes set, how to transition from a slow song to a faster song and vice versa, and how many songs to balance in a particular place in the mix as well. All that in the context of following the rules themselves, assuming I didn't mess that up. And to think that I have a hard enough time making a single disc mix without rules.

I agree in principal but will say that I think Eddie Vedder has a particular gift when it comes to sequencing setlists that lends itself to some form of mimickery, even if it is not intentional. I frankly feel that he has done the best job of this than any other live artist I've heard.

I would also view CD's different than tapes cause of how easy it is to skip between songs etc

Not trying to be nit picky (mixtape vs mix cd) but in my mind this would need to be a listen from start to finish no skipping, stopping etc to be done the way I read it

It's not my fault pearl jam had the terrible bad taste to actually put most of their best songs on their GH.

Don't tell people the name of your mix. When voting happens we want people to not know who they are voting for, just the mix they are voting for.

Ok, answering some questions here.

For the soundtrack/holiday single/rarity category you're able to pick any Pearl Jam song that had a non-album release (we're including Lost Dogs as part of this despite Lost Dogs getting an album entry as well). That means for these songs you can include any holiday single, b-side, soundtrack song, bonus song that popped up on a DVD, etc. Also included in this category are the live albums/box sets. So you can use tracks from L2L, L10L, Bennaroya, Gorge Box Set, etc. The only live things forbidden here are just tracks from an official bootleg. I know some of that seems arbitrary but so what.

The wild card is even more of a free for all. You can take any original Pearl Jam song that has ever been recorded, whether it was officially released or not. The only rule here is it has to be a Pearl Jam composition performed by Pearl Jam. So no covers or solo work.

When it comes to covers, basically the only way you could work one in is in the soundtrack/holiday single/rarity category. If it's a holiday single or something from one of the live albums, you can use it.

Most people aren't naming their mix. IF you don't send me a name for the mix I'll end up just titling it myself and it'll probably be unflattering.
