The key to getting stip into any artist is finding their "Fixer," isn't it?

The key is to find an artist that is REM or late or early era pearl jam.

I'm lal'ing to To Bring You My Love for the first time
the title track is exactly the kind of thing I think I wanted from her.

and meet ze monstra probably pushes just a bit too far in that direction. I like the static charge in the song, but she's a little too abrasive and stompy here.

I like working for the man--the bass and the whispered vocals and hushed guitar all meld together really well. I feel like this song is about to try to lure me someplace sexy and dangerous. I bet there's a van involved.

C'mon Billy is pretty good. I bet I would have liked this less if it was on Stories from the City. I think the acoustic guitar compliments her better than the electric on songs like this (based on my very limited experience)

Teclo: the piano reminds me of another song. Not a fan of the deep stuff she's doing with her voice at the start of this song, but by 2 minutes in it gets better. Oh wait, now she's doing it again. Overall not into this one.

Long Snake Moan: I really like the throbbing bass in this one. Pretty badass begining. The music is great. This is a good song. Maybe my favorite thus far.
Down by the Water: this was the one PJ harvey song I knew. I love it. The fuzzy headache bass and the call and response. And the whispering. She does that so well.

I think I'm a mother: Don't really like this one either--don't like the vocals. The music was good, though. I like how it creeps along behind you

send his love to me: I like how desperate and unhinged she sounds in this one. This was another good one.

The dancer was pretty good too, although the moaning was a little jarring, and not in a good way.
Overall I like this one quite a bit more than stories of the city. the music is uniformly great and she suits it well. More of this, please.

A band I was in did a cover of Angelene. We all picked a cover with Angel in the title and Angelene was one of the better covers along with Massive Arttacks Angel. Black Crows She Sleeps with Angels and Gram Parsons' Return Of The Grievous Angel had 1 airing only but were a hell of a lot of fun.

I love Angelene. What a great song. Might be in my top ten.
Long Snake Moan is probably my second favorite PJ Harvey song.

I listened to both Is This Desire? and To Bring You My Love on the plane today. Fucking love those albums so much. Both title tracks were hitting the spot really nicely today.
