I don't know why you'd say there isn't.
You're welcome chud!cutuphalfdead wrote:Way to twist my words around.Fuzzcharger wrote:Nah, I was just taking the mickey out of the 'you only like the music released that year because you were coming of age' theorymalice wrote:are you in your 60s?Fuzzcharger wrote:I still think 1969 is the gold standard.

But I'm probably biased because I was coming of age.I'm in my thirties.
I quite enjoyed the new spin on an old favourite. I gave a pleasing chortle in response.cutuphalfdead wrote:your joke was stupid, jorge, stop thinking you're clever
A good record is a good record regardless of era.Birds in Hell wrote:I can certainly see how that notion might ring true for some but it never has for me either; most (though not all) of the music that's made an indelible impression on me was released well before I stumbled upon it - I've never felt any contemporaneous connection to the music of a particular time.Fuzzcharger wrote:Nah, I was just taking the mickey out of the 'you only like the music released that year because you were coming of age' theoryI'm in my thirties.
I wonder if that's partly a result of geographic isolation. Even if I found a great new band, chances were slim to none that I'd ever get to see them play; bands don't tour Australia all that often and, even when they do, it's relatively rare that they play in Adelaide. I've never felt like I was listening to "old" music when I was delving into something released in 1965 or 1982 or whenever else.
i have to agree with you. a lot of the music i love was released in the 70s but overall i think of the 1970s as a pretty awful music era. personal bias ftw!Fuzzcharger wrote:A good record is a good record regardless of era.Birds in Hell wrote:I can certainly see how that notion might ring true for some but it never has for me either; most (though not all) of the music that's made an indelible impression on me was released well before I stumbled upon it - I've never felt any contemporaneous connection to the music of a particular time.Fuzzcharger wrote:Nah, I was just taking the mickey out of the 'you only like the music released that year because you were coming of age' theoryI'm in my thirties.

I can see your point. Having grown up in through 80's with a lot of great 70's music. I used to wish that I could've grown up through the 70's instead.malice wrote:i have to agree with you. a lot of the music i love was released in the 70s but overall i think of the 1970s as a pretty awful music era. personal bias ftw!Fuzzcharger wrote:A good record is a good record regardless of era.Birds in Hell wrote:I can certainly see how that notion might ring true for some but it never has for me either; most (though not all) of the music that's made an indelible impression on me was released well before I stumbled upon it - I've never felt any contemporaneous connection to the music of a particular time.Fuzzcharger wrote:Nah, I was just taking the mickey out of the 'you only like the music released that year because you were coming of age' theoryI'm in my thirties.
