Agreed, i mostly really like his work. And appreciate his passion for music and music consumption. He's definitely trying to keep something alive by appealing to a new generation, and that's cool. I guess it's just hard to do that kind of stuff without one or two douche canoes floating down your river (via fans, affiliations, other people, or even Jack himself)durdencommatyler wrote:That's totally fair. Very well put. 100% agree. And I'm speaking as someone who has experienced said douchebaggery first hand.bodysnatcher wrote:Agreed, i mostly really like his work. I'm just talking Jack White the man. Don't get snippy, mary.malice wrote:religious affiliation is terribly important in a musician.
Have you read those emails of his to his ex wife? I think Jack is likely a self-absorbed piece of shit as a person.Harry Lime wrote:Nonsense. The man has flaws like anyone else. And I'm willing to bet he is just as self-loathing.theplatypus wrote:Have you read those emails of his to his ex wife? I'm sure he's self-absorbed. Most "stars" are. But I don't remember those emails being as bad as everyone was making them out to be. But it's been a long time since I read those. And whatever I read seemed largely out of context.theplatypus wrote:Have you read those emails of his to his ex wife? Subject: Dropbox Proposal
Dear Tim Bierman -
Recently, I was made aware of Pearl Jam's financial venture with the file-sharing company Dropbox. As a frequent, premium user of this service, let me say that I am ecstatic to have one of my favorite bands see the potential in this trendsetting company. I, and I'm sure other fans of the band, find a link of solitude with Pearl Jam's vision of the future of cloud technology. I am also very aware of Pearl Jam's propensity for visual art and design while translating this into very eye-catching (and sought after) merchandise made available to its fan club. I am reaching out to you today to offer a proposal for a new design for Pearl Jam's interest in Dropbox. Not only could this item create a unity between Pearl Jam and their fans that are Dropbox users, but I think it may be a way to capitalize (and advertise) their association with Dropbox, while creating higher returns for their investment in the company.
Please let me know if you are interested, and we can schedule a more detailed conversation. I look forward to hearing from you.
Sincerely,
John
