It's certainly better than my own personal anecdotal evidence/support.

I'm sure you're right, I just haven't been able to give you a hard time for anything else today.
I'm glad I deleted my post in the "anyone here insane" thread.
I didn't see it. But I'm sure Ruddo did the right thing. And I'm glad to see you acknowledging it.

I think they overstepped with this one. GOTG was an unknown property outside of the comic world but it had everything you'd want in a big summer movie. Ant-Man feels like a CW show on the big screen. Unless its hilarious I can't see the character and his powers as a draw. Dr. Strange is going to be iffy too.
I see it doing well. I think everything with a MARVEL stamp on it is guaranteed to do well, or at the very least not flop. It has this intensely passionate, built-in fanbase at this point. I just think the marketing for this one has been a bit wonky.

will it do capt america type money? no, but i see it overall in the 350-375 total range

while pym was the original antman rudd plays scott lang a reluctant hero (personally they should have went with the newest antman. a guy who steals the suit from SHIELD and uses it to spy on women etc)
Did the Mother Fucker pay extra to yell?

I'm rooting for it. I don't really have any interest in it but I want it to do well so we get a Black Panther movie. I have a feeling if this and/or Dr Strange did poorly T'Challa would get the ax.

This marketing hasn't done much for me (though it's gotten better) whereas guardians won me over hard with its campaign.

But, as platy said, I will see anything they put out at this point. They'll need two weak movies in a row before I cease to be a sure thing. The cap - avengers - iron man 3 - cap 2 - guardians - avengers 2 run has made sure of that. I wasn't a big fan of Thor 2 (either, really) but those are still watchable. Agents of shield is solid. Daredevil is excellent. They've earned my trust for a while

and this is purely a brand loyalty at this point, not a comics thing. Other than the x-men properties I have only a passing interest in the other franchises and series. My love for the Nolan movies and batman in general is proportionately related to how unlike a comic they make it.

the first screening reviews were pretty positive. Not ground breaking, but seems like this could be a very solid little edition.

I find it hilarious that in Spanish this film is called "Ant Man: El Hombre Hormiga".

Which translates to "Ant Man: The Ant Man".

I really didn't like this movie very much.

Some good gags (especially near the end; that Cure sequence was awesome), and some of the effects were cool in a Honey I Shrunk the Kids kind of way, but overall a rather bland, lightweight superhero movie. Some distracting editing choices, and very little in the sense of cinematic style. Very "boxy". Loaded with so much exposition it felt like listening to an audiobook. Everything tying it in to the MCU felt haphazardly shoehorned in.

The Hispanic sidekick was funny.

that's too bad. I'm going to go see this but my expectations are low (whereas they were very high for AoU and Guardians), so as long as I'm entertained I'll be happy

Even though I didn't like this movie, I'm excited for my little siblings to watch it, because I know they'll love the hell out of it. It's probably the most kid-friendly Marvel movie to date.

Can I bring my four year old to this? Hilary already told me no, but I'm looking to establish precedent.

Yeah I think so. There's nothing sexual or scary.
