Re: Whole Albums in Concert

I think they should start playing their old bootlegs straight through. See if anyone notices.
Oh wow, you're quite right! That's fantastic. Man, I really hope I get to see them again some day, they're sounding better right now than they have in a very long time. Reeves seems to have been a great addition to the band.theplatypus wrote:They did when I saw them last year! They haven't done it much over the last few years but certainly during their 2000 tour they'd cycle through a mini-set from either Faith, Pornography or Disintegration in the encores.Lament wrote:The Cure used to do this. Actually, for all I know, they probably still do. But I'm sure BiH definitely knows for sure whether or not they still do this.Birds in Hell wrote:No issue with that at all.LetMeSleep wrote:I still like the idea of Encore 1 being album based. A select 6-7 tracks from any given album sounds great to me. Still leaves room for everything else and other album tracks can be played in either bracket.

I thought it would have been cool if they did the Off Ramp set to open the show the other day.theplatypus wrote:I think they should start playing their old bootlegs straight through. See if anyone notices.
Right but are you in the majority or minority with your 25 shows?stip wrote: I've seen a lot of pearl jam shows. 25 or so. But that's over an almost 20 year period, and there are usually a couple of years between shows. I don't need curveballs when I'm there.
Oh see, that's probably the biggest difference between us then. I've been spoiled with "curve balls." So they're all I want anymore. An entire show of curve balls would be bliss. For me. But they aren't playing private shows for me.stip wrote:I do like the encore being devoted to a particular record idea, but song choices are zero sum, and while it would be cool in a scorecard keeping sort of way to say 'i got to see all these obscure songs I don't care much about' it does mean I'm a lot less likely to hear a song that I'll really be excited for.

I thought you disliked "Black"Birds in Hell wrote:I'm kind of disappointed they so rarely play Black when I see them. Five shows, seen it once. Same with RVM, five shows and one performance. I've only seen Porch twice, I could do that with that one a little more frequently too.
I don't have any expectations of a Pearl Jam show other than they play well and hopefully play a well-chosen mix of songs from their catalogue, I'm never chasing anything specific.

You know, I've never seen him do that.Lament wrote:As long as Eddie wears a jersey of a local sports team and there are posters I'm happy.

I like the song a lot, especially live, I just think the lyrics are a little overwrought.theplatypus wrote:I thought you disliked "Black"Birds in Hell wrote:I'm kind of disappointed they so rarely play Black when I see them. Yeah - Adelaide 1998, 2006 x2, 2009 and 2014.LetMeSleep wrote:Have you only seen Adelaide shows?Birds in Hell wrote:I'm kind of disappointed they so rarely play Black when I see them. I've seen the above 3 songs 4, 3 and 4 times out of 6.
Seen BMan, Cord and EFlow 6/6 with DTE and Alive 5/6.
I don't think I actually noticed until I got home, from memory. Throwing the Neil Cover in the middle threw off the chronology too, so perhaps it was less apparent on the night. It was a fantastic show, Nothing As It Seems was immense, but the previous night was even better.LetMeSleep wrote:The set for 2006 Adelaide 2 was a great idea. How was it in person? who doesn't?Birds in Hell wrote:
