bada wrote:Conan the Barbarian is a legit great movie and proof that Arnold is an incredibly effective actor with the right material. It's probably his best performance. Well before he tried to act in the late 90's. It reminds me of how James Hetfield was a good vocalist before he started trying to sing.
Joey's backtrack on Krull has removed him from the shit list. Well done.

I consider it one of the highest works of cinematic art ever made, and I mean that 100% unironically. John Milius at the peak of his powers.

I haven't seen the theatrical cut of Legend yet (with the Tangerine Dream soundtrack); I've only seen the Director's Cut with the Jerry Goldsmith score. But I just bought the Blu-ray, so I'm going to watch it soon. I really WANT to love it; the visuals are fucking unbelievable.
i have the DC and i still watch it any chance i get on TV. to me it belongs lumped in with Weird Science, Breakfast Club, Pretty in Pink and Fast Times at Ridgemont High

Dark Crystal
Adventures of Baron Munchausen (not sure when this one was made)
Princess Bride
Labyrinth (though I usually fast forward through the musical numbers)
Conan the barbarian
Legend
Time Bandits
Conan the Destroyer
Excalibur
Krull
Haven't seen Beastmaster since I was a kid. Might have to check that out again soon.
Dark Crystal is my biggest influence, so it's a natural number one. The funny thing about that movie is that even though the main character is the hero, he's almost completely useless. The girl does all the work, and even had to sacrifice herself because of his incompetence.

i wouldn't drop Excalibur into the fantasy box, it's Arthurian legend.
