Michigan through Illinois is one brilliant three-album run. You should really do so. They're all very different than 'Age Of Adz' as you probably already know.Brett wrote:Interesting. I really like Age of Adz, but I haven't really dug into his other work too far. Maybe I'll have to make an effort to do so.Mike wrote:http://pitchfork.com/news/58019-sufjan-stevens-announces-new-album-carrie-lowell/

Re: Albums of 2015
Mike Vennart, frontman for the late Oceansize, has his debut solo album on the way, featuring contributions from former bandmates Steve Durose and Gambler, as well as drums by Dean Pearson. I, for one, am excited, even if I can't say that I was too fond of the "Operate" single he put out last year.

Re: Albums of 2015
Inventions, the collaboration project between Matthew Cooper (aka Eluvium) and Mark T. Smith (from Explosions in the Sky) are releasing their sophomore record less than a year after their debut. It's called Maze of Woods and is out March 17. More info here: http://pitchfork.com/news/58043-inventi ... ingworlds/.
First "single" is called "Springworlds."
More absurdly pretty ambient electronic post-rock-whatever stuff. I think I might get this one and use it as an excuse to pick up a copy of the first record which I only ever listened through streaming, but enough to call it a highlight of last year.

Re: Albums of 2015
The Wild Hunt is his most acclaimed and a good starting point but I love all three of them. I'd start with that one and if you like it you can follow with Shallow Graves and then his newest one. The EP 'Sometimes the Blues Is Just a Passing Bird' is good, too.durdencommatyler wrote:A'ite. I'm intrigued, but unfamiliar. I thought "There's No Leaving Now" was forgettable but both "The Wild Hunt" and the "Sometimes the Blues..." EP are fantastic. Looking forward to seeing what he's cooked up this time.
