I really liked KOL around 2006 (seeing them open for PJ 3 times in a row helped) but I've barely listened to anything post Sex On Fire.

So colour me surprised when I heard 'The Bandit' and really enjoyed it - will be checking out the album

For some strange reason, the coffee shop I go to every day plays an absurd amount of Kings of Leon. Like every other song on many days.

It made me realize how much i unironically love this band.

And I think I like the new or mid stuff more than the old stuff. I like the warm, bassy sound. The unabashedness of lyrics. Everything.

is it just me, or does Mustang feel more like older KoL than new/pop KoL?

it does, but somewhat less compelling than those songs; I feel pretty neutral about it but look forward to hearing more

Every Kings of Leon song I’ve heard has gone in one ear and out the other. On paper, it seems like I’d like them. I want to like them. But something doesn’t click with me.

Yeah I'm digging it. That lapsteel (or is it just a guitar + slide?) instantly reminded me of Ben Harper. Very catchy part.

they had the first 2 albums out and played four tracks from the then unreleased 3rd one. we got given the setlist by thebackstage crew in brisbane because we must have been enjoying the setlist more than most... :haha:

A little embarrassed I thought that was a lapsteel. The video clearly shows him playing a guitar with a slide. I thought it had too much mwewrrr, you know? A little too much mwerrerrerr.

Sounds great though.

KoL, when they sound like this, are a good case in point for the argument that Pearl Jam would be great with this kind of production

They started off great, had a dark poppy period, but I kinda liked the last album a lot
