Unfortunately this is not strictly a PC support forum, but a disillusioned middle-aged adult support forum. So you're unlikely to get any sound computer advice here.
Feel free to stick around though, I look forward to seeing some helpful and inciteful input from you in the near future.
What the fuck are you talking about? He was given sound advice but now he's just playing games.
let's be honest: i got some okay advice in here, but yours was easily the worst and you know it
My advice was solid.
do you even know about computers?
I know they exist.
i'm not even sure about that anymore

Have you settled on a method yet, Alex?
I still think you should just buy one of these:

Chud gave you pretty good advice, Alex. It's not his fault if you don't follow it.

Seriously, taking out the hard drive is easy. And once you do you can transfer via SATA to USB cable.

How about you use the 3.5" floppy drive and move your files across bit by bit, one disk at a time. Requires patience and manual dexterity.
Another option is to spend $50 on a USB backup drive, they usually come with software to use at each end to backup and then restore. You can then keep the drive as an external backup device.

Alex isn't interested in real solutions, Sarge. I think what he really wants is for someone to do it for him.

My method is considerably cheaper than using an external hard drive, and will only require one step to transfer to the new computer. An external drive will require copying the files twice if you ultimately want them on the internal drive of the new machine.

I think Chud is hoping Alex dies from electrocution while trying to pull his hard drive out.

It's best to just move on, Al. Try to forget about those old files and just make new ones.

Take photos of the old ones to retain the memories. Then burn the old PC.

Because I'm on holidays. Tech support duties will resume once I'm back at work in the new year.
