I still love WWS and Gone is terrible.
I won't change direction and I won't change my mind.

I have few problems with any of the songs up to (and including) 'Gone', but excluding the shit out of 'Big Wave'.

I like the looks of that. But, I'd still want Comatose in there somewhere. Its a good song, but the album cut unfortunately sounds like nails on a chalkboard.

what's wrong with the album cut? sounds perfect to me.

The production kills most of the times I get the urge to listen to the album. There is good music on there, but since it doesn't even have the relative change of direction Backspacer did, it's just an album full of nice songs that constantly lose out to the rest of their work.

Unemployable is a beast. :heartbeat:
The trouble is, whenever someone argues a variation of "I don't get the hate for S/T", the songs they quote as being great are always from the first half of the album, illustrating perfectly why I dislike it.
Yeah, it's a crawl to the finish, save for Army Reserve. But, even on AR, Eddie (who obviously, given the 06 tour, still had an amazing voice) chooses to force out grit in a really abrasive way.

yeah, ed does that, which works great for the song, IMO

dam, i don't get it. Marker is in my top 10 pj/songs of all time. you seriously like Of The Earth better than it? if so, ok, i'm just surprised.

Life Wasted is the best PJ rocker on the past 3 albums, imo.
Marker and Big Wave are the two songs i kinda don't like, on the other side i love Cold Confession & Of The Earth, so yeah, i imagine what could've been if i swap their places.
I like it but can't imagine Let It Ride being part of Avocado, sounds to me as a song from Riot Act era (and it maybe was born at that time).

My fantasy avocado tracklist would be:

1. Life Wasted
2. World Wide Suicide
3. Comatose
4. Severed Hand
5. Unemployable
6. Parachutes
7. Of the Earth
8. Cold Confession
9. Gone
10. Army Reserve
11. Come Back
12. Wasted Reprise
13. Inside Job

I just tried to do this. Actually listen to it through headphones. It's deplorable how bad this thing sounds.

The first two tracks just don't cut it man. Not bad songs, but I couldn't make it through without skipping. Life Wasted is fucking boring. I remember the original leak, with the longer outro solo, I had high hopes, expecting better production, loving the long jam. Then, the sound blows and it fades. Poop

Comatose, Severed Hand, Marker, and Parachutes - this run is nice. It's passable through headphones. Marker and Parachutes are the standouts on the whole album, imo.

The rest just dissappoints. Inside Job is flat out terrible. How can a professional recording group make something that sounds that bad? The song itself is promising, could have been great with the right melody and lyrics, but whatever shot it had to be listenable was ruined by the bland sound

This is a great run and into Unemployable too. I also like Big Wave but then it does fail to break the surface for air with the exception of Army Reserve.

This album is better than most folks give it credit. It gets the most plays in my life out their catalogue nowadays.

Unemployable starts great, but then those damn yeah, yeah, yeahs. The first half is top notch, love the storytelling.

Big Wave kicks ass live, i really kind of like the tune. But, here, it kind of just trudges. I never liked it until the 06 tour boots. Still don't really enjoy it on the record. Army Reserve is the only other track that isn't an automatic skip for me. I kind of see it as the end of the album

My reaction on the album as a whole is that it deserves the lack of credit it gets. It tops Backspacer, but barely.

The album that's starting to stand out for me is Riot Act. I used to totally ignore that one, now it's one of the first ones I turn to.

I'll shout this from the rooftops until the day I die, but Life Wasted---WWS---Comatose is my favorite 3 song stretch in the catalog

Sure, but Parachutes > Unemployable > Big Wave.

Yeah, that's the stuff.

Big claim. Better than Go-Animal-Daughter?
While a Western guitar motif lost on the swings drum bass fusion, get your own thoughts into the subconscious often forgotten. "Pendulum" is a sweeping soul from the ballast.

The best 1-2-3 punch in the catalogue is Brain of J, Faithfull, No Way.

It's my favorite, yeah. I think objectively Go-Animal-Daughter is probably better.

Na, 'Why Go' spoils that run.

I love Why Go, but it just a notch below all those other songs.
