I'm sure that's their rationale but I don't think it's a very convincing argument - it's like responding to criticism of a successful person or company by saying "well, they make more money than you!" as though success alone vanquishes any further analysis.

I still think the posts present the band in a very amateurish and childish way. If 42,000 fans disagree that only serves to lower my estimation of their fanbase.

I have no problem applying this philosophy to Facebook, but you're right. It shouldn't be applied to their art.
