Hardly seems like a good reason to delay the CD and FLAC options, though. There certainly weren't the same issues with the Vic or Constitution Hall CD's -- those both came within weeks of ordering them. I struggle to understand what's different about this.
They did the same thing with the previous Vault release (Bellingham 2000), the CD and digital options weren't available to order until the vinyl had actually shipped, months after it was announced.
I think it's silly on one hand too, I'd definitely prefer to simply buy the FLAC files now, but I think it's a conscious decision on the band's part to try as best they can to have everyone receive the show around the same time no matter what format you bought.
It's cool. I'll probably just hold off and order one after Christmas. It is a good show, from a year underrepresented by their "proper" discography (unlike Bellingham, which was an average show from a year that had already been exhaustively documented). I'm just ready to start seeing some Irons on these things.
Personally I'm glad to have the track with the Elvis impersonator left off.

The only thing missing is Ed and an Elvis impersonator singing My Way, the exclusion honestly doesn't really bother me.
But that song was already officially released. So what could possibly be the excuse.
Officially released but not soundboard quality - it sounds like it's actually an audience recording. I guess Brett had already shut up shop before they sang it.

I'd genuinely be very happy to see all three of those shows get a legitimate release, along with Berlin '96; they deserve to be part of the band's official canon (as such).
It's easy to overestimate how familiar casual fans are with these things.

Yeah it wouldn't bother me that much, and fits with their whole "no effort being put into it" vibe.

I think it's likely that the selection of shows reflects the lack of complete (or near complete) performances in their "vault" more than it does a lack of interest or effort but I do agree with the criticisms about the packaging. I'd definitely prefer that they made silver-pressed CDs of these Vault releases including photos from the show, press clippings, memorabilia, etc.

Well, Atlanta '94 (barring a few tracks) is already part of the official canon, though making a complete version readily available would be cool. And your point about casual fans is well-taken, although their current setup isn't really marketed to casual fans; to the contrary, I can't come up with how someone who doesn't already visit 10C's website on a semi-regular basis would even know these exist.
Perhaps Pearl Jam just realized at some point that they're not a "historical" band whose legacy releases are going to appeal to any audience beyond their existing fanbase, so they've chosen to go about it in a financially responsible way that's going to allow them to continue doing it rather than go bankrupt flooding the market with CD's and records that are just going to collect dust in a warehouse somewhere. That's fine. But putting, say, Atlanta '94 out in the current release arrangement will do nothing to canonize it any further (and, for me anyway, the crummy packaging they use certainly isn't about to dethrone the fine-looking shelf-candy ridleybradout put together for JWB's Soundboard Remasters) -- it would need to infiltrate the market on a different level in order to register in that way, I think.
Regardless, I hope your suspicion about the lack of remaining material to be "unvaulted" turns out to be false -- or at the very least, I hope they can find it in them to cobble what partial recordings they have into a few good comps. I have a Dead album called "Steppin' Out," which is a 4CD comp of 7 shows they did in England in 1972 -- not full shows, but a pretty thorough overview. That type of release would be great for the '95 South Pacific shows, or the Australia '98 shows -- short tours with a lot of great music but not necessarily a lot of variation, and with a little care you could probably really assemble wonderful, canon-worthy "albums" out of them. Full shows are overrated; for all that's come out over the years, I still don't know that I've ever liked anything as much as "Live on Two Legs."

How about that "Live On TEN Legs" release? What a disappointing piece of crap that was...

Yeah, that thing was a mess. Bad performances, boring track selection -- hopefully whoever made that comp is kindly excused from work on similar projects in the future.

Still sits in my "desert island top 5 albums".

I hope so too and I would love to see some releases along those lines.

Dylan's Bootleg Series 5 is another fine example.

Same here - it played a big part in changing me from a pretty big fan into a full-blown-slightly-obsessed-compilation-making fan.

I have no idea whether this is well-founded or not but the impression I recall having at the time is that the song/performance selections were largely compiled by Brett Eliason with input from "The Rob".

Live on 10 legs was a weird release. It seemed almost pointless at the time; but i realize now it was for the non fan base in mind.

listening to the 11/30/93 show now for the first time in......15 years? That's a lot of "hoo hoo"s in Jeremy.
Also, I do love some vintage PJ/Ed singing. But these boots give me an appreciation for the singer Ed became between '98 and '05(?). He was just powering through some of these songs at this point. Like some sort of out of control freight train. Which has its own qualities of attraction as well.

i would actually be pretty happy with a complete, official release of the atlanta show from 1994. i'm sure i have most of the tracks, but having it come in cool packaging w/ pics, setlist, etc. would certainly be something i would drop money on in a heartbeat. that might be my favorite show though, i still remember listening to it live. were all 3 of those shows played live on the radio?
