That's a great set of songs. Two of my top 5.

Save You and The Fixer. There were quite a few others on RA too, but this one I had the biggest 180 with. Still hoping I'll one day like I Am Mine.

that outro solo is one of mike's finest moments. But I love just about everything about that song

I used to think "Dissident" was one of the weaker points on Vs., but now I love it.

Was so poppy at a time I wanted something heavier. Definitely not the Pearl Jam I wanted. It's pretty great now, there actually seems to be lot going on, it's pretty deceiving.
The bonding over unpopular modern PJ songs just keeps on comin' today.
I want to join the Fixer love.
When I first got into Pearl Jam in 2003 (13 at the time) I didn't get a lot of their stuff. Most of their later albums seemed kind of weird to me. Two songs I now love that needed to grow on me for a long time are Help Help and In The Moonlight, though my love for those also happened a long time ago. My taste in Pearl Jam songs doesn't really change that much anymore. Sirens was a shock at first and I like it now.

I still don't get "In the Moonlight". Why does everyone love it so much?
sleight of Hand, Help, Help and 1/2 Full were all clunkers for me until I saw them live. Now they are all well-loved...
I would add that Riot Act, more than any of the other records, really benefited from seeing the tracks live. I think because the album's production is so stripped down, I initially mistook the record as somewhat lazy. But after the RA tour, I could really hear the energy in the album performances, and came to appreciate Ed's vocal delivery as an intentional illustration of tired weariness at the state of US affairs (as well as the fallout from his divorce), rather than a series of phoned-in performances.
I remember the moment when half full kicked my ass for the very first time. the CD was blasting when I was driving during a downpour and 1/2 full came on. I thought to myself "holy fuc k. this song is set on fire"
why aint my quote working?

Magical. Evocative. Atmospheric. Sexy. Full of potent imagery. Ed sounds great. The band sounds great. I think it's a brilliant song.

I like the officially released version from Lost Dogs well enough, but I think I'm even more fond of the Demo. It's played just a tad slower, Mike plays more subtle and prettier, and Ed doesn't sound like he has his lips smushed against the mic.

I didn't at first, but then I heard a real nice live version....can't find a link, but maybe someone has it. It was A+ sound quality. Sometimes a live version will help me like a song more.

Also, hated Speed of Sound, but now like it. I don't know why. Maybe it's because I play my favorite tunes to death and when I rediscover something I don't play often it gets artificially inflated like any new Pearl Jam. Or, maybe it's a good tune. Regardless, it was a nice surprise when it appeared on shuffle today on way into work.

I love how the slow, almost bluesy grind of the song plays against those ethereal multi-tracked vocals, all breaking in that tension-release chorus -- there's a duality to the song that causes you to feel like you're at once being stalked by something sinister and watched over by some kind of protective angelic force, and it stakes out a rare sonic and emotional space as a result. "A night bird is following you all the time" is one of my favorite images in the PJ canon.
One of my all-time favorite songs. The live version with Josh Homme is perfect.

From now on, I'm gonna let Kevin Davis answer all questions about why songs are good or not. Damn. Perfect description, KD.

If you're referring to the album version, then no, that's not the case.
I didn't like this song until I heard the Ed acoustic version. That is pretty sweet.

Came around on:
Cropduster
Thumbing My Way
Johnny Guitar
Sirens
Other Side
Marker In The Sand
Album I came around the most on:
Riot Act. Hated this album so much for the first couple of years it was released. Then something about it just clicked.
