Would you say fear is your only God?

You know the power of a question.

I love how BOB had just sort of spread like an infection across this sort of early 90s rock clique of bands.

Agree. Although I think what scared me more was "Most of the songs with drums are either loops that I made electronically or that Brendan basically recorded just playing a little drum kit he had." Dear God....

Even Chris knows Matt Cameron would have played too fast

I just dont get why these guys let BOB play rockstar. Do they really lack the self awareness necessary to realize how bad the music is?

yeah, im afraid of Bob messing with every cornell demo. Usually his demos are awesome...and it would be the second in a row for him to get a producer to actually fucked his material.

Its weird to think i would have been so exited to know Brendan and Chris were working on an album in the mid 90s.

You can hear modern day BoB all over that middle section of the new single. The song starts off with some promising Battle of Evermore mandolin and a nice vocal cadence before settling into a manufactured poppy sound.

I would guess BoB had very little to do with those ridiculous lyrics.

I thought BOB did a good job with this demo

My guess is that BOB fills the confidence vacuum created by older and more insecure rock stars who aren't quite as sure as they once were about how their output should be presented. They respond to his confidence, even if it's sometimes unearned and unwarranted. I think they basically think Bruce Springsteen listened to him, so why the fuck shouldn't I?

Because Bruce The Who and all the other antiques these guys still for some reason feel are relevant....aren't?

I remember reading an interview around the time of Backspacer where Eddie Vedder pretty much said exactly that.

As for this Cornell song - it's ok, but it's pretty boring. If this is going to be another Carry On, count me out.

Well thats my main fear too. Carry On is easily his worst album.

Agreed. Carry On is just so unremarkable. It's boring, slickly produced middle of the road dad rock. Killing Birds is the only half-decent tune on that thing. And the Billie Jean cover is a stroke of genius, but the live acoustic versions slay the album version.

People will always say Scream is his worst, but at least it's interesting (in the sense that watching a trainwreck is morbidly interesting). And I do maintain that there are quite a few good songs on that album.

He needs to re-record that album in a solo/acoustic manner.

Oh yeah, there are a few good songs, and the others could have been good too...it should have been different.

Chris Cornell's Game of Thrones/Adult Contemporary tribute new song blows, whack as hell. :finger:
