Team Spenno for next album producer.

Johnny Guitar is the winner here for me.

And my top 10.

Unemployable
Cold Confession
Let It Ride
Johnny Guitar
The Fixer

I'll leave it at nine.

It would definitely make my PRAMG Bottom 10.

I think the only way I'd be satisfied with a new Pearl Jam record is if Matt, Jeff and Stone wrote the whole thing.

Mike is only allowed to contribute to songwriting in collaboration with one of the aforementioned band members (eg. Comatose by Mike and Stone, Unemployable by Matt and Mike).

Eddie is perhaps allowed to write one or two songs but I'd need to vet them first. If he pulls out an acoustic guitar, do not pass GO, do not collect $200, place these songs directly in the file marked "next EV solo album".
lol. Spenno is spot on with this. I full support.
Which songs has Eddie written from the last three records?

I started but I don't care enough. It would make an awful record.

No wonder I don't like the last two records very much, Vedder wrote about half of each of them single-handedly.

It might be McCready/Vedder, but it was Mike's thing primarily I think.

In any case....

I love most of Vedder's compositions and I dont think Stone has been very strong in his offerings lately either but I would be fine with Cameron/Ament constructing tunes.

They all need a kick in the ass really.

Come Back does not seem like a song a lead guitarist would write and I am damn near positive that is all Vedder. There would be no reason for Mike to write that on guitar without a melody and idea. Ive always been under the impression that was a vedder track.

I would happily excise all of the above songs from their respective albums bar Gonna See My Friend.

He doesn't write songs that provide any space for the band to add anything essential, they're solo songs with Pearl Jam playing support (or in some cases, with the acoustic tracks, not appearing at all).

I also dont think the bad puts that much effort into adding to his songs. Or anyones for that matter.

Remember Man of the hour? They sure did a wonderful job with that.

I will happily retract if I'm wrong but I'm certain I'm right.

Wikipedia gives the writing credit to "McCready/Vedder", as do the album credits from memory (I don't have it here to check).

My hunch is that Mike was the primary writer and Vedder chipped in some ideas once the song began taking shape.

That's a neat way to wrap up that idea but I don't think it rings true. I still hear plenty of effort on the last few records, it's just largely expended on songs that aren't particularly strong.

I thought stone wrote come back.

Other than WWS, GSMF, and Lightning Bolt (which musically is just aces) it's not a great group, I believe. But as was said, the problem is that the rest of the band isn't adding much into it. Would Getaway be that much harder to flesh out than, say RVM?

I think RVM works better largely because it's a stronger base musical idea but Jeff's bassline alone on Getaway places it above most of the rest of that list.
