Which songs has Eddie written from the last three records?Strat wrote:lol. Spenno is spot on with this. I full support.Birds in Hell wrote:It would definitely make my PRAMG Bottom 10.Leatherhead wrote:These PRAMG Top 10's need more World Wide Suicide.
I think the only way I'd be satisfied with a new Pearl Jam record is if Matt, Jeff and Stone wrote the whole thing.
Mike is only allowed to contribute to songwriting in collaboration with one of the aforementioned band members (eg. Comatose by Mike and Stone, Unemployable by Matt and Mike).
Eddie is perhaps allowed to write one or two songs but I'd need to vet them first. If he pulls out an acoustic guitar, do not pass GO, do not collect $200, place these songs directly in the file marked "next EV solo album".

I started but I don't care enough. It would make an awful record.stip wrote:Which songs has Eddie written from the last three records?Strat wrote:lol. Spenno is spot on with this. It might be McCready/Vedder, but it was Mike's thing primarily I think.

Come Back does not seem like a song a lead guitarist would write and I am damn near positive that is all Vedder. There would be no reason for Mike to write that on guitar without a melody and idea. Ive always been under the impression that was a vedder track.Birds in Hell wrote:'Fraid not.Strat wrote:COME BACKBirds in Hell wrote:Mike wrote this one.Strat wrote: Come Back

I also dont think the bad puts that much effort into adding to his songs. Or anyones for that matter.Birds in Hell wrote:I would happily excise all of the above songs from their respective albums bar Gonna See My Friend.
He doesn't write songs that provide any space for the band to add anything essential, they're solo songs with Pearl Jam playing support (or in some cases, with the acoustic tracks, not appearing at all).
I will happily retract if I'm wrong but I'm certain I'm right.Strat wrote:Come Back does not seem like a song a lead guitarist would write and I am damn near positive that is all Vedder. That's a neat way to wrap up that idea but I don't think it rings true. I still hear plenty of effort on the last few records, it's just largely expended on songs that aren't particularly strong.Strat wrote:I also dont think the bad puts that much effort into adding to his songs. They did but it's the exception that proves the rule.Strat wrote:Remember Man of the hour? They sure did a wonderful job with that.

I think RVM works better largely because it's a stronger base musical idea but Jeff's bassline alone on Getaway places it above most of the rest of that list.stip wrote:Would Getaway be that much harder to flesh out than, say RVM?
