I always felt, thematically, that the dividing line was Yield. The first five records from the band have a relatively coherent thru-line, both lyrically and musically. A lot of the things Eddie writes about on those first records, particularly on Vitalogy, kind of come to an end on Yield. On Binaural, the band goes off in some fairly unexpected directions and start tackling new lyrical concerns, and I think that kind of makes sense through S/T. Backspacer kind of makes sense, at least lyrically, as a response to the politics on the last records by avoiding them altogether. LB may be the first record they've done that has the feel of "this is our newest bunch of songs." It doesn't really feel like a response to the prior album.

Yeah, I think I can get behind that definition of their thematic periods.

Wait, is the "Classic B" because I don't know the albums or because someone made fun of me for something I've already been made fun of for? Classic B is getting too meta.

If you go by their official deluxe reissues, they are defining eras by drummer.
Ten
Vs. & Vitalogy
No Code & Yield coming next?

Ten-Avocado - Brilliant and on top of their game with various peaks and valleys
2007 - Current - Not sure where this lands at this point. Definitely below everything else though still enjoyable for me. Shows have been always a pleasure and blast but im not an idiot and think they reach the levesl to when this band blew my mind every single night.
