I remember an attempt to slow that bridge section down to try and get a better idea what he's saying there. Don't remember the outcome. Definitely didn't sound like what pearljam.com has listed for it though.

I don't know what the lyrics are on the studio version, I'm not sure they're even words in some cases, but I'm pretty sure for the live performances Ed sings something about "newspapers on the road" while Jeff and Stone (?) sing "fall as the tree falls".
