Everything stems from the initial creative process. When it's in a group situation ideas can be bounced off each other, and often, feedback from early ideas can help something simple grow into something great. If creating on your own, it's easy to come up with something and then trash it a moment later. It can take another viewpoint to say, hey wait do that again but add this, or another person jumps in with something to compliment it, or whatever.Birds in Hell wrote:Songs like Tremor Christ grow out of exploring ideas together, eyeball-to-eyeball, from beginning to end.Strat wrote:Tremor Christ is like Hard To Imagine on steroids. Early PJ was really good at these types of songs. Stone in particular. Simple riff that they would jam on and create a beautiful piece from.
hard to imagine and tremor christ aren't in the same league, however, they aren't that different in approach. They both play off one simple groove that flows and grooves and builds to a beautiful climax.
It's really amazing how good this band was. They were so great and doing so much with so little.
now they just try too hard.
They were better when they didnt know how to "write" songs.
They're never going to come up with something like that while everybody brings in almost-finished demos and the band just flesh them out.
These guys need to just in the studio and pretend they're a new band of simpletons, and just jam out simple ideas. Fuck it, take some drugs too and chill out.
