based on the comics he is an the highest omega mutant recorded.

the problem is he has mental problems. schizo

each personality controls a different power and he is quite aware of this.

in his mind he calls upon the personality depending on the situation to help him out.

while at the beginning it was pretty generic the latest legion series really fleshes this out delves a lot deeper into the mental anguish he goes through having so many split personalities.

conversely for a while this is what they did to rogue somewhat. for a while she was able to recall any power from a person she touched no matter how long ago it was

I'll say that for sure. The show really makes you think if you were this person, you would just want to kill yourself.

Spoiler: show: I'm starting to think this whole season is inside his mind, and just introducing his personalities. It really seemed like he was coming self aware in the last episode of whats going on. With a few of the personalities having more control than the others. Of course, I might be completely wrong, and it could go in a totally different direction, which, they can do, with Legions powers.
