This thread went from hilarious to entirely embarrassing in no time. Come on, people.
Really wish I had seen that before I made my DVD cover.Birds in Hell wrote:

wait? that isn't a joke like the Kings of Leon/Nickelback/Creed youtubes?Self wrote:Jesus Christ. I honestly can't decide what's worse. The guitars? The vocals? It's a dead fucking heat.
Good thing there was never any grace to fall from.
you know its bad when everyones first reaction is that it must be a "shreds' videoelliseamos wrote:wait? that isn't a joke like the Kings of Leon/Nickelback/Creed youtubes?Self wrote:Jesus Christ. I honestly can't decide what's worse. The guitars? The vocals? It's a dead fucking heat.

yeah, i didn't expect it to be great, but did expect it to be better than that.gardenparty wrote:you know its bad when everyones first reaction is that it must be a "shreds' videoelliseamos wrote:wait? that isn't a joke like the Kings of Leon/Nickelback/Creed youtubes?Self wrote:Jesus Christ. Yeah, I don't know. His voice sounds shot, so I guess you can only fault him for still trying to do shows. The guitars, though, damn... how can you fuck up like this. Oh well.Self wrote:Jesus Christ. I honestly can't decide what's worse. The guitars? The vocals?

Well, neither did Slash for that matter. Slash, Duff, and Steven were not part of the original lineup nor did they write very much. Axl and Izzy wrote 90% of the material including ALL the hits and were the only two original members in the "classic lineup."Strat wrote:durdencommatyler wrote:Will wrote:As much as we make fun of Axl's behavior, if there's one thing I miss about rock music nowadays, its music with attitude, and Guns had it in spades in their prime.I have a hard time reconciling these.Heathen wrote:His name is Chickenbuckethead
Buckethead was part of this GnR incarnation and has nothing to do with the Original Lineup.
Honestly, the only two GNR live performances I've seen here are when Axl had strep throat. Bridge 12 and Rio 11 are the only two bad shows I've seen/heard since Axl came back in 2001. Truth is, they really are a spectacular live band. Revisionist nostalgia worshippers conveniently forget how erratic, uneven, and sloppy the old band was as a live entity. New GNR gets a lot of bad press, but seeing them live is one of the last places you can get a real rock n roll show with all the bells and whistles. Axl Rose is really one of the last remaining frontmen that has any sort of mystique.gardenparty wrote:Voice is clearly shot but he could still salvage the music by learning better voice control. He jumps in to that high register at the beginning of every song and leaves himself with nowhere to go.
I have a lot of fun laughing at the new videos but it's a shame this asshole can't figure it out because I do think there's probably some decent music left in this dudes head
Also, you could be mine is a fucking ripper, love the original version of that
Probably the most inaccurate comment I've ever seen about GNR. Fortus and Ashba are much more in the Izzy/Slash vein- both in musical and stylistic terms. Buckethead/Finck were an entity all their own. I actually prefer Bucket and Robin, but if anything people complained that they were totally unlike Slash/Izzy. In all honesty- every guitarist they've had since Slash quit the band is far more technically skilled than he was/is. I mean say what you will about soul, stage presence, etc- but there is no doubt that guys like Fortus, Buckethead, and Ron Thal can play circles around him when it comes to sheer technical ability.MattA75 wrote:I'll probably get flamed for this, but at least back when he had Finck and Buckethead in the band, they could do a reasonable imitation of Slash and Izzy...but I've yet to see a good performance from his current crop...and Ashba might be the worst guitarist ever
