I was thinking this while watching, and a few people confirmed it: the editing in this movie is quite bad. It kinda feels like it was cobbled together from a random mess at times.

Original scifi space opera is officially dead in Hollywood. They just don't make any money.

What did you find bad about the editing?

Sometimes it would cut away mid-sentence to something unrelated and then back again (almost as if a line of dialogue was inserted later), or an action shot would cut in a very unsatisfying and awkward way to something else. It was just very clunky at times.

He probably thinks this film was made in the editing room

Films live or die in the editing room, Ruddo.

Going to see it tonight. I have the only purchased seats so far so I have a feeling it's going to be pretty empty, which would be rad.

Yeah, that's sounds like the perfect way to see that movie.

I like crowded theaters where everyone is quiet except for when they laugh

I was sure I'd posted about this. Yeah, I loved this a lot. Actually worth the 3D, hits all the right beats, is perfectly obvious in a way that works. Minor issues here and there-- the weird/choppy editing is 100% an issue, and something I also noticed on Wonder Woman -- but all in all a super enjoyable film. All the money's on the screen and I can't wait to see it again when it comes out down here.

I still need to see this. I've gotten around to Baby Drive and Logan Lucky so I'll add this to my list
