Steve Albini wrote:Whenever there's active promotion on the part of somebody else, whenever I see somebody all dolled up for a fancy photograph and someone's handing out flyers or whenever there's active promotion for something like that, as an imposition on my day, I hate all those people and I want them to fail. I have a visceral reaction to advertising and promotion. There's just something about salesmanship that grates on me on a very base level and I react very negatively towards it. I want those people to suffer and I want their enterprises to fail.

How do you go through the effort of making that half hour video and make such dumb mistakes as saying incorrect episode titles and mispronouncing names?

He's completely right about that. That's what I thought myself after jumping to that season immediately after watching season 3 some time ago. They're not bad episodes, but there's a noticeable decline in joke quality.

Season 13 is where it really starts sliding downhill for me. I hate this whole logic that it starts getting bad earlier because it shifts from grounding and heart to absurdity. That's not a bad thing; just different. It's still funny as it ever was during that period. Funnier, maybe.

Season 5 was pretty fucking absurd, story-(and, often, humor)-wise. That's not the reason for the decline, and if that Scottish guy framed it as such then I missed it
