When you lay out the facts
  • 16 second snippet; double looped
    mono mix (not stereo)
mp3 VBR V2 (though this hardly factors in given the above)
it makes a lot of sense that the application for this clip is the website app playing through a shitty cell phone speaker.
And explains why the audio clip didn't impress me more on my real speakers than my laptop speakers.

I was content skipping the preview altogether but hey it was too easy to click on the link -- https://moon.pearljam.com/sounds/moon_audio.mp3

Fun and I've got no complaints but.. now I'm gonna do my best to forget this exists and hope that the full song is released at 11pm Central Time next Monday.

Release date 18th of February

I like this clip a lot. It's got a great riff, and has a bit of Queens and Eagles of Death Metal thing going on...which is great.

From what I've heard so far, I have a good feeling about this album and gotta say.. I'm more excited about a pearl jam record than I've been in years.

I think EVERYONE is on board for this 15 second clip (which somehow means we're all going to hate it).

The riff is horrendous and what Eddie does is Hitchiker-ish.

It doesn't look good, to be honest.

Unimpressed so far but hoping it goes good places outside the snippet we've heard

Totally not what I was expecting. That's a theme with this new stuff.

Hitchhiker is very lazy writing, one of my least favorite songs ever.
And it's got that horrendous four-chord riff beaten to death by Nirvana on 99% of their material.

I’m getting a QOTSA vibe as well. That little chromatic riff at the end also has a bit of Sabbath swagger to it. Very catchy. Woke up with it in my head.

The 5 or so minutes from this album are already better than the entirety of BS and LB.

this riff is the opposite of lazy - it's adventurous, even.

and i woke up with it in my head after purposely NOT playing it to death yesterday.

all systems go, team.

It's cool as a B-Side, and that's it.

I made a rank of all their songs on last month and Hitchiker went to the 161 slot. Out of 175.

Same here and i tapped it out on my steering wheel yesterday, so it must be good.
