places with poorer healthcare to begin with, and people who smoke shitass cigarettes constantly, and where air pollution is terrible (i.e. China, China, China) are going to be more prone to having deaths

I’d look up what’s happening in Italy Iran South Korea and Singapore. Iran excludes all of those have excellent health services and it’s running riot and not confined to the smoker older demographic you mentioned.

Calling it no worse than a common cold’ is dangerously bullshit frankly. It’s already mutating with at least one case in a dog (I think?) if it’s transferable to livestock and hello there food chain then we’re really really fucked.

Death toll in Italy rises to 21

Italy’s coronavirus death toll has reached 21 and some 820 people have been infected, the civil protection chief has said, while number of those who have recovered from the virus is increasing.

Authorities say all the victims were elderly people who had also been suffering from other health issues.

Lombardy’s governor, Attilio Fontana, says the situation intensified sharply in Lodi, near Milan, on Thursday; with a sudden spike in the number of people hospitalised.

“Unfortunately another emergency broke out in Lodi overnight,” Fontana, who has put himself into self isolation after a regional government employee tested positive, told La7 television. “There was a rush of hospitalisations yesterday afternoon with 51 people in a serious condition, including 17 who were put in intensive care.”

Now look up the cases throughout Europe that have come home from Italy. It’s not that demographic at all.
High school age kids all over UK and Ireland showing up with symptoms. And it doesn’t matter if they don’t get truly sick from it, it’s th spreading and viral aspect that’s the danger.
An entire plane full of people coming here from Italy all had to be traced and told to self isolate cos one lady turned up with a positive at hospital in Belfast.

I hope it’s nothing too but to brush it off as an inconsequence is a terrible idea
