I don’t have a strong opinion on this firing.
Well, no, you wouldn't, because you're hopelessly tribalist.
McParadigm wrote:
I do have contempt for the intensity of the reaction.
The rest of the paragraph suggests the intensity of reaction as highly unlikely to be the cause of your contempt.
McParadigm wrote:People get fired for social media posts all the time.
You see me bitching about it all the time!
McParadigm wrote:
But then sometimes it happens to a public sphere conservative, and the BurtReynolds of the world start running around with their hands in the air yelling “it could happen to you.“
Assume the worst about my intentions. I don't care. It's good to be skeptical. What is
your opinion? Oh that's right, you don't have one, because it isn't happening to your team (spoiler: it is happening to your team.)
McParadigm wrote:
Yeah, no shit it could happen to me. Every HR department I’ve ever worked for has made sure to let me know that. It’s included in my annual fit for duty training.
This is bad. You shouldn't have to accept this.

I remember the days when it was impossible for a employer to let go someone because of what he posted in their facebook

I think I'd rather live in a society where one could share controversial views on a public platform without worrying about losing your job because your boss with the god complex decided it was wrong and convinced the idiot masses to give him the power to control everyone's lives because they are scared of beep/bop/boop. Crazy, I know.
You give corporate executives way too much credit.

Almost every representative of a company in the public eye In this part of the world, has some version of ‘views all my own, not representative of those I work for or with’ in their social bio
I don’t get why her firing is controversial to people like Burt. Who seem Selective at best About what they deem worthy of their support or outage.

A tweet in support of BLM that includes the hashtag #acab.
Lots of people post this. Why isn’t it happening now?

I'm probably a little selective, and you are extremely selective, especially when it comes to Disney. In fact I don't think I've ever seen you criticize the blue team for anything.
I hate when this shit happens to anyone, though I do laugh when it happens to someone who celebrates canceling others, or when it happens to someone who doesn't think the problem even exists. I love some schadenfreude as much as anyone else.
If someone posts about this and I don't say anything, you can probably assume I agree with the poster and don't have anything to add.

That's the point. Firings only seem to happen to one side of the political spectrum. Is your issue that people complain over what they see as unfair and unethical firings that happen to one side when there aren't firings on the other side to complain about.
That's like you complaining about being punched in the face by me, and me saying it's not as issue as you don't see me complaining about being punched in the face by you. Truth is I can't complain about what's not happening.

Nor was Jocelyn Morffi getting fired from her teaching job at a Catholic school for posting pictures of her wedding to another woman.
Which is awful, but apparently ok if whatever the business decides goes.
