The striped down version is just Ed playing the chords and singing over it. The melody is very nice though. It's a very pleasant song but i understand why some find it boring.
I think it's a perfect closer though for the same reasons some find it boring.

I prefer the stripped down version to the striped one.

No, it's definitely (partly) the live version from Atlanta 1994.

It's not surprising you can't hear the audience. It's not as though it's an open-mic recording; Ed's guitar would've been fed direct to the desk and the audience would've been miles away from Ed's vocal mic (and facing in the other direction to boot).

It's not surprising you can't hear the audience. It's not as though it's an open-mic recording; Ed's guitar would've been fed direct to the desk and the audience would've been miles away from Ed's vocal mic (and facing in the other direction to boot).

Yep, the reason why you hear the audience so well on official boots is because there are crowd microphones.

So you can hear the crowd too and the bootleg can be more of a representation of being at the show and not just listening to the band's output from the stage.

I've never been able to pick it out and just thought BoB was full of shit to make the story of getting around Ed's misgivings a little more mythical. If you can point out which parts they used I would appreciate it.

As for Future Days, I'm digging it. I've been on a Thrasher kick lately (really all of Rust Never Sleeps), but the beginning of Thrasher keeps leaving FD in my head.
