'Neath the cement stroll, catch the midnight drift
Cigar chewing Charlie in that newspaper nest
grifting hot horse tips on who's running the best

And I'm blinded by the neon, don't try and change my tune
'Cause I thought I heard a saxophone, I'm drunk on a yellow moon

And the moon's a silver slipper, it's pouring champagne stars
Broadway's like a serpent pulling shiny top-down cars
Laramer is teeming with that undulating beat
And some Bonneville is screaming "t's way wilder down the street"

And I'm blinded by the neon, don't try and change my tune
'Cause I thought I heard a saxophone, I'm drunk on a yellow moon

Hearts flutter and race, the moon's on the wane
Tarts mutter their dream hopes the night will ordain
Come schemers and dancers, cherry delight
As a Cleveland-bound Greyhound and it cuts through the night

And I've hawked all my yesterdays, don't try and change my tune
'Cause I thought I heard a saxophone, I'm drunk on a yellow moon
Thought this sounded like a Tom Waits song before I Googled it. :D

After waves/oceans/tides, is the moon the next most common reference in the Pearl Jam catalog?

Take a ladder up to my room
Take the ladder up to the moon
I am a light reflected off of the moon to you
So faraway, running out of room
Running out of time Meet me on the moon....on the moon
We´ll have it all ourselves
We´ll keep it,and no one could tell
All our searching.... Sharing a kiss on the moon
The german sky...don´t ask me why
It´s ten o´clock and my only thought is of you and the moon.
And the moon It´s ten...
I´ll share a kiss with you on the moon.
That's an awesome improve...great call. Love that.
 in case anyone wants to hear it :

Na it doesn't. It's more subtle than that. Ed would've called it "The Yellow Moon Cries for You, Dear".
its like harvest moon but its called yellow moon. Ed plays acoustic guitar and the band does nothing.

He also plays harmonica and banjo.

lyrics:

ohh eeee yellow moon
eee such a beautiful moon
ohh mmmm its yellow
ee oooo its you

Yeah I've just this second thought of the possible Harvest Moon connection.

Yellow Moon is the logical extension to Unthought Known.

When I saw the yellow moon

That's Lightning Bolt.

If my theory's correct, Yellow Moon should be this album's Speed of Sound.

Yellow Moon is a fine title. Look at how cool In The Moonlight was.

i don't like that title. I don't like future days and lightning bolt as titles either. But that does not worry me in the slightest.

I kind of hate it when the titles scan the same: 'Yellow Moon', 'Future Days', 'Lightning Bolt' etc.

I liked it best when Pearl Jam song titles were just one word. I thought that was cool.

There's nothing embarrassing title-wise, yet. Lightning Bolt has grown on me as I've seen the concept and art direction unfold. I like the title Future Days, I just think the song isn't great.
