I find it pretty hilarious when people seriously argue that Dave K. isn’t the right drummer for Pearl Jam.

This is the guy who came up with the drum parts for Ten.

Honestly, the drum parts on Ten are easily among PJ’s bestest — up there with Yield, Dark Matter, and ST.

Krusen would be the most romantic choice! He would be perfect for midtempo and the slower funky groovy stuff. Matt Chamberlain would still be a better fit, cause he's a far better drummer. However, I never heard anything from Kruse that would convince me he would be a good fit for the more aggressive stuff they did with Dave A or Matt. 'Go', 'Animal', Severed Hand', 'Dark Matter'. That kinda stuff. He's not really a heavy hitter. But maybe PJ should retire those songs anyways.

Maybe it's an announcement about the lack of announcements.

Retire "Dark Matter"? Please no! I have yet to hear any of those tracks live in person!

It will be a forever bummer that I never got to hear Matt play any of the DM songs live—his best work with the band in my opinion.

Props to Dave A for being the only member of the band past or present who never cut his hair short.

In 1991 the band told Dave K to go get his life together.
He did.

Bring back Dave K.

Between Dave K and Jack Irons, Pearl Jam has a curious history of unceremoniously abandoning people with health issues. Bunch of ableist a-holes.

On the drummer, McCready was straight-up: the band’s in a holding pattern right now because he’s deep into his solo project and Eddie Vedder’s heading to Japan. He said, “We’re on a holding pattern right now because I’m working on this and Ed’s going to Japan. We’re gonna find somebody. We don’t have anybody to announce right this second. I wish I did. I’m dying to play. We’ll make it happen — I’m stoked to see where our future goes. Everybody still wants to do it.”

About Matt Cameron leaving, McCready admitted he was kind of surprised: “I think Matt was getting tired of being on the road; he’s paid his dues over the years, and I wish him the best. Just wasn’t working for him anymore going on tour, and that’s OK.” He also stressed how important Cameron was for the band: “We were lucky to have him for 27 years. I was a little surprised and sad, but I love him and I wish him the best.”

Kind of a weird sentiment towards Matt. Sounds as if he'll just never see him again. Like a long time coworker who decides to leave.
