The league is being assholes. Why are they leaking so much stuff? If they truly wanted PEDs gone from baseball, they'd have kept this quite and been thanking A-Rod for implicating users. It looks to me like Selig is more concerned with getting A-Rod out of baseball than PEDs. A-Rod's a douche but the league and Selig are being blatant bullies.
My post was aimed more at his fellow players' opinion of him than Selig's.
If I'm competing clean, I don't care if A-Rod's naming names and I may actually be happy. He was a douche before and he's still a douche. The only people affected by this are cheaters and of all of A-Rod's issues at the moment, I can't see what cheaters think of him being one of them.

Ruined football? Sorry it's as popular as ever.
Just because something is popular doesn't mean it's better.

I wasn't saying it is better (though I think it is). I was just saying that's it's not ruined - if it's as popular as ever.

There was an Eagles / Colts game 3 years ago? that ruined football for me for that reason... I cant remember how it all played out but on one Colts drive, ya had a 15 yard penalty for a "hand to the helmet" on Manning (it was literally a thumb brush as the DE was going for the ball as Manning had it back to throw) then ya had a call challenged, then Austin Collie lowered his helmet into an Eagles safety and the Eagle got called for helmet to helmet (which theyre finally going to fix this year) then the 2 min warning... then a touchdown reviewed... (and Collie was injured on his play, and there might have been another injury on another play) it was something like 7 plays in 30 mins... 7 fucking plays in 30 mins!
someone said baseball has a break in the action between every pitch for 20 seconds... that still means they get 3 pitches per snap in the NFL. football takes 3+ hours to play 4 15 min quarters... thats 2 hours of non action per game.

and no one, is talking about it
hes one of the greatest all time hitters were ever going to see and no ones (make that 5 hits shy as he just got another infield single as im typing this, over 600 infield hits in the big leagues now) talking about it, all anyone talks about with the yankees is Aroid
FUCK AROID!
3995 combined hits Japan/MLB for Ichiro

Because Japan is not Major League baseball, so those hits dont count toward his total?

That's pretty much how I feel. It starts with limited replay, in 10 years all of a sudden we are replaying every play and changing the rules every year because we don't like which teams won in the playoffs.

Yeah, it's amazing enough that he's as close as he is to 3000 MLB hits when he spent so much of his prime years in Japan. I don't get the need to combine that with his AAAA stats for anything other than to say "Hey, that's kinda cool."

I think calling Japan AAAA is giving their league too much credit. I would say it's more comparable to AA here. Look at some of the guys that have left MLB(straight bums like Tuffy Rhodes) that go over there and dominate. Dice-K is a vise versa example.

Maybe. I feel like I read somewhere that the equivalency would be somewhere around AAA, but I could be way off on that. Either way, Ichiro pretty much replicated his Japanese success in the MLB, so I'm comfortable saying that if he had been in the MLB his whole career he would be somewhere in the 4000 hit range by now.

I wouldnt go that far, I'm sure he was able to produce early in his career more than he would have in MLB, but he'd def be well into the 3000's.

I don't think it's a stretch to think that in seven seasons (age 20-26) he could have put up 1000+ hits. Even if he averaged only 150 hits, that would put him at over 3800 right now. That's a pretty low bar for a guy who averaged 225 hits a season for his first 10 years in the MLB, especially since his earliest years in the NPB were among his best.

ya also have to consider Japan league was only 130 games when Ichiro was playing there, hed most likely easily put up the same numbers playing in the U.S. 162 game schedule. He needs 1287 hits in 7 seasons, thats 183 a seasons, considering he broke 200 hits his first 10 seasons in the U.S.? id actually argue hed ALREADY have 4,000 hits if he played in the U.S. the whole time. Just was reading his wiki, did you know he got sent down in Japan for his slash/hack swing style?
Hes still one of the best hitters, and id say hands down 2nd best leadoff hitter of all time behind Henderson, and hes getting no attention because of ARoid and Fraud

He's an outstanding hitter, but to say that his Japanese career would easily have translated to MLB is taking a little too far for me.

Braun still getting kicked to the ground by the media.
Meanwhile A-Rod is gaining sympathy! I didn't think that was possible. "Give A-Rod credit, he's playing well." Who cares?! He shouldn't be on the field. Fucking stupid.

why shoujldnt he be on the field? he is taking advantage of the process that baseball and the MLPA agreed upon.

I just dont get all the hatred thrown at him for going by the process. the numbers show the yankees are playing better with him in the lineup so its not like he is hurting them.
is the guy a dick? dont know him personally so i cant say one way or the other. but its not like he is the only one who has ever used roids in the league and for players to act all holier than thou with their garbage about he shouldnt be in the game and this and that is crazy and shows how hypocritical these same players are. they knew their teammates were using PED's all the time and no one seemed very distraught about it as they are now.

But his Japanese career did easily and immediately translate to the MLB. My suggestion is that it could have translated earlier.
Consider: If Ichiro hit .250 in the majors over his age 20-26 seasons, he would have 3850 hits right now. If he hit .280, he would be at 4000. It seems crazy to me to think he wouldn't be capable of meeting those ridiculously low baselines, considering he came into the league and hit .350 as a rookie and has a .320 career average.
