- Spoiler: show

"Una Familia Gay". Thoroughly entertaining and well-made docufiction. A lot of fun, if sometimes a little on-the-nose.

"A World Not Ours". Quietly powerful film with some humor sprinkled throughout. Loved it.

"Historias Extraordinarias". I've actually already seen this movie several times before. It's one of my favorite Argentine films, so I was very happy to hear it was playing at the festival. A wonderful piece of work.

"A Hijacking". Staggering. Pretty sure this film gave me secondhand PTSD. But I loved it.

"Warren Ellis: Captured Ghosts". Fun little doc about a writer I'd always been curious about.

"The Day He Arrives". Really loved this. Reminded me of early Cassavetes at times.

"Animals". Incredible. Haunting, darkly humorous, amazing soundtrack. Probably my favorite festival film so far. Hung out with the director afterwards and he's a such a talented guy. I wouldn't be surprised if he had a big Hollywood career eventually.

"I Used to Be Darker". Strangely enough, this film reminded me of the PJ song "Dissident". Emotional but grounded.

"Il Futuro". Can't say I was too sold on this one. The whole time I felt like I knew where it was going, and I was just in a hurry for it to get there. Really well made, but it just didn't connect with me.

"Shut Up and Play the Hits". Amazing documentary about LCD Soundsystem's final show. Great music, interesting insights, gorgeous shots of New York, and strangely emotional. I saw this last night at midnight and came home incredibly happy.
What movies are you watching?

Cool, I will.
Miss Bala was an interesting movie. It was almost too dark and depressing for me to like it but it was done so incredibly well. The lead and the guy who plays the main drug lord we're both fantastic, and some of the action sequences were the best I've seen in a while. But goddamn if it isn't depressing.

I remember liking it. It's been about 7 years since I saw it, but I remember really liking the setpieces and train photography. I can't remember much about the actual story, to be honest.Malloy wrote:thanks fellas. jorge, care to opine on 2046?

Example: cant believe they are not making another Jack Reacher movie, but we have two G.I.JOE movies and a third one coming.
