Starting to get really excited for this. I have crossed over the 'care enough to get disappointed' threshold

Spoiler: show
James Marsden who played Cyk in the first 3 movies, was at the premiere, and working the red carpet, and said something along the lines of "the fans have been great with this and so patient well see where this goes from here" so... looks like the rumors may indeed be true, Cyk did indeed NOT die in X-3. as they said in Band of Brothers "if ya dont see a body there aint no body dead"
Spoiler: show
Femke aka Jean Grey was also on the red carpet at the premiere

I'm so glad the era of wire-fu seems to be behind us. It interferes with the death strike/wolverine fight and has been stupid in every movie ever but the first matrix

It's a good scene, but then the wire fu undermines it

I wonder how many people Xavier kils when cerebro gets reversed. Older people, babies, transportation accidents, botched surgeries...

Night crawlers assault on the president is pretty cool, and I think Rebecca stamos is a good mystique. Xavier and magneto are quite good but the first class ones are better. Really the one thing x2 has over first class is wolverine, but he's not as good as magneto and Xavier in first class.

Actually Stryker is a solid villain

I do look forward to seeing what Hugh jackman can do working with better actors. No one gives him much to work with in most of these movies

If by "better" you mean "so shockingly inferior that it's not even worth discussing", then yeah, it's better.

It's been a while since I watched X2, admittedly. And I've only seen First Class once. But I didn't think FC was better after that one viewing. Maybe I should watch them both back to back. X2 is pretty fantastic, as I recall.

X-1 is the best "intro" movie to a comic book story/character/franchise, they do a great job slowly introducing the world of mutants so even your mother can follow whats going on. The end fight took all 4 working together to stop Magneto.

X-2's is the best overall movie, albeit the worst when it comes to X-team work. Night Crawler and Wolverines fighting scenes are great, but the end climax, you literally have 1 or 2 X-men off doing their own thing. No ones really working together to save the day, which is why Magneto almost wins.

X-3 has the best X-team work but its the worst movie. Halle is actually giving some good lines as Storm for a change and is getting more of a leader part. Beast is great, and the end fight, where they all work together to finally take down the bad guys. it would have been interesting to see how different this movie would have turned out if Marsden and Singer stayed on

X-FC is... a mixed movie, Magneto and Charles are GREAT, but most of the other mutants are boring. the story line using real life events was a nice touch. But this movie really comes off as rushed to me. Charles and Erik met 1/4th of the way into the movie and split up by the end. the Hellfire club, which are some long time X-villains literally have the world at the brink of WW3 yet the X-men literally beat them and ended the club on their first mission?
First Class COULD have been the best of the movies, but...

no matter how boring James, Femke and Halle are in the first movies
Storm, Jean and Cyk are FAR better characters than Banshee, Havok, and Angel
and older Beast looked so bad ass? how did they fuck up the makeup so bad? young Beast just looks... horrible.
and Mystique was given better material in the first 2 movies than X-3 and FC
