The grab-ability and portability wins out. Also, the shots you guys have posted strongly support the RX 100.

The III is more expensive and only really adds a viewfinder, which may not be a deal breaker either way but there's not point in paying for one if it's not important. From what I've been reading the IQ is pretty much the same on both models.

Damn good thing I didn't just purchase a Canon DSLR or a RX100 as she really didn't like the feel of them. The Olympus can be on auto control or manual without using a menu.
The other camera she liked was the Sony Alpha ILCE 6000. This camera had a few tasty features but didn't feel as right as the Olympus.
