Same here. Still probably my favorite song of the new iteration of AIC. The Devil Put Dinosaurs Here would be up there too.
As far as the new album goes, I've been through it a couple times. Its pretty good. Though I think my initial knock on it would be that there's not a lot of variety between the songs. A lot of samesiness to the songs.
The One You Know is probably my favorite still. I wasn't initially wowed by it, but after listening to it several more times, I'm really digging it now.

Yeah, i get whay you mean. But i like that and it helps the songs arent really long. Devils´s problem for me was that most of the songs were like 7 minutes...Something Jerry has been doing since Degradation Trip i guess.
This one feels really focused and its stronger for that i guess.

Speaking of Degradation Trip:
In 1998, vocalist Layne Staley reunited with Alice in Chains to record two new songs, "Get Born Again" and "Died". Originally written for Jerry Cantrell's solo album Degradation Trip, the songs were released on Music Bank.[2]
I wonder what the original versions sounded like.
I've been going through the early stuff and is it a studio trick to make Layne's voice sound to vibratey/echoey? Or did he just sound like that?

I dont think those two were written for DT. They sound very different...Layne´s vocals in those two and in the Class Of 99 song are very very touched in studio for sure, but he actually sounds kinda like that too...listen to the Unplugged.

Samesiness. That’s the word I was looking for. Still need to give this a few more spins.

A few thoughts:
The One I Know: i wasnt in love with this one as a single, but damn i love it as a opener. The guitars in the intro are sick and im loving the bridge and solo.
Rainier Fog: I love this one. One of the bests of the album for sure..Love Will´s vocals and how Jerry appears in the bridge.
Red Giant: Another awesome song. Feels like a classic AIC outtake from Dirt or Tripod. The intro, the voices and fuuuck that chrous!!
Fly: first song thats kinda meh. This one should have been the classic acoustic number and its something in between.
Drone: I wasnt super in love with this at first, but i really like it now. The bluesy mood works really fine and the bridge is super awesome. Another classic guitar solo.
Deaf Ears Blind Eyes: I love the chorus..super AIC but im not loving this one right now.
Maybe: Love it!! the vocals are super awesome..the way the band kicks in at first, the chorus...feels like a Jar Of Flies kinda song. I love it.
So Far Under: Best song on the album? William´s voice are amazing. The guitars sound like classic AIC from Dirt, and the chorus feels like Tripod...Man, those drums!!!
Never Fade: Another great one. I love the mix between the vocals and the guitars...They sound like something from Facelift..and then the chorus is a new thing for this band, kinda poppy, kinda GNR...great song.
All I Am: This one is a hard one to get into, but damn its good. A classic Jerry slow tempo song with a fucking amazing solo. Sounds like something from Boggy Depot maybe.

Check My Brain has such a great riff. Bending into those notes gives it such a good groove.
New one is growing on me. Red Giant and Drone are good. I like them the most.

Giving the new one a real shot today. Maybe I'm just in the right mood but I'm thinking this is the best mark two AIC album yet.
