The remix album was okay, about half of it was worth listening to. The remix for Killing Season (by Unkle) though is ace, it's way better than the original IMO.
the original is probably my second favorite song on that album, behind Death Trip.

Im 4 songs in (this will be a piecemeal listen)

I liked the Death Trip remix a lot
Greg? dulli's i am the wolf was terrible
killing season was ok. ill give it another listen
Moby's torn red heart had some nice moments but was twice as long as it needed

yeah killing season, while certainly not as good as the original, is pretty solid. i dig how it rumbles along underneath the more prominent parts of the mix. Kinda dangerous

i listened to beehive and nocturne again since my album didnt arrive yet. i love the music - similar to phantom radio but much richer and more fully realized. but not a fan of what feel like recycled lyrics, and vocal melodies are kinda weak

Yeah for some reason he seems to recycle like a few dozen of the same words on the last few albums and just changes the order of them in lyrics on the songs

After one listen I already like this so much more than Phantom Radio.

phantom radio had it in itself to be a pretty solid EP, but there are too many songs on there that belong on the next b-sides anthology.

after my first listen it feels like he's a bit on autopilot, but I really enjoyed it. Especially the second half.

amazon fucked up my order so I still haven't heard gargoyle yet, but Mark Lanegan sings Where Did You Sleep Last Night in episode 1 of American Gods. A new version. It sounds amazing

I actually prefer the older version more, but was really cool to hear him sing it again, especially since it was stripped down musically.

I'm still absorbing Gargoyle--definitely takes a few listens to get into. The only song that I feel is considerably weak is Drunk On Destruction, just not feeling that one at all. Goodbye To Beauty, while good, didn't grab me as much as I was hoping for. First Day Of Winter is fucking gorgeous though, probably the highlight for me, followed closely by Old Swan. Overall, another solid addition to his catalog although I'm hoping his next effort branches out to less predictable territory. I can see myself liking this more than Phantom Radio, even after few listens.

No, this is my first. He just kinda reminded me of myself. Doing what he does to make a living but not wanting to.

He seemed in good spirits I thought. Good interview.

And side two of Gargoyle is much better than side one.

A little story i have with Lanegan, i got the chance to see him in a very small venue a few years ago, with Dulli. It was The Gutter Twins tour and the first time he came to Argentina...the show was great, and at the end he came out and shook hands with everyone.

He was serious but cool...i shook hands with him and exchange a few words with him, very kind and thoughtful guy.
