Yeah, think you may have made the right call. Obviously expected Béla to guest on a few songs but Before These Crowded Streets in full is pretty special.

Really cool. Looks like they gave a big hint by playing nothing from BTCS at the night before

this is awesome. not only did they perform together, they played arguably their best album front to back. this probably wasn't even on your wishlist it's so unbelievable.
who's the violin player that sat in with them and how quickly can they make him a permanent part of the band?

it’s funny you say this, because part of the strong impulse in going to these shows was recognizing that IF they were to ever play btcs in full, this weekend with bela seemed like the highest odds for it to actually occur. i didn’t go expecting it of course - as you said, they’ve never really given us any reason to think they’d do anything like it - and i’d have been more than ecstatic seeing bela on a handful of good songs. but from day one of them announcing the weekend openers (bela specifically) it was 100% on my mind. then the tour started and by mid-summer the sets were really, really good, and every single btcs song got played at some point. so i finally decided to go to the shows. then there was no btcs played on n1. i knew once they brought bela back out and started the last stop after rapunzel on n2 that it. was. on. i couldn’t have been more stoked to be there.
violin dude is named jake renick simpson and was getting ’sign him up!’ chants by the end of the weekend. warehouse is a must hear. they all are, really, but if you only listen to one song he played on, make it warehouse.

sometimes the obvious just needs to be said.
n3 isn't ever going to get as much love as n1 or n2, nor should it, but for a 2025 dmb show, it's top tier on its own. as a whole weekend, i can't imagine i'll see as good a three show run from them ever again. i should just retire. i won't, but i should.

I may listen over the weekend, haven't listened to a full '25 show in a bit.
I have been revisiting the '02 spring tour during the week, some really solid shows along with some Béla and the Flecktones action.

this is awesome. i def would have expected bella fleck to guest, but i never would have expected them to do the whole album. incredible.
i listened to the intro to 'warehouse' 3-4 times before i even got through the whole song. the first time i i heard it i had the same reaction as dave listening to this jake simpson guy. you can see dave listening to him and really digging it. i guess the dude grew up listening to dmb. where is he from? is he in the flecktones?
a couple of years ago i remember saying i'm finally used to boyd tinsley not being in the band. this kid ruined everything lol. there's something about that instrument in dmb songs. boyd tinsley is a huge reason i fell in love with the band.

New LiveTrax due up soon. Dave is really up front in the mix IMO, will be an interesting listen for latter era DMB.

We are excited to announce Take Me Back Live from the Gorge, capturing the band’s performance from Saturday, August 30, 2025 when the band played Before These Crowded Streets in its entirety.
Click here to pre-order the album, available on May 22, 2026 on ATO Records.
Take Me Back Live From The Gorge will be available in digital format on February 6, 2026.
On that night, DMB played a handful of songs, beginning with Bob Dylan’s “All Along The Watchtower” and including subtle nods like “You Never Know” and “It Could Happen,” before launching into album opener “Pantala Naga Pampa.” Béla Fleck, who had guested on the album, joined the band for “Last Stop” and “Don’t Drink the Water.” After a long-rumored and rarely played performance of album closer “Spoon,” the band called Jake Simpson onstage to play violin on fan favorites “Satellite” and “Tripping Billies.” The encore closer raised the question everyone was trying to answer after the historic evening: “What Would You Say.”
