This explains how lil Peep was posthumously elected to the House.

Re: 2018 Midterms
Voting laws are where I think the left really shows their inability to get things done. The left whines so much about them, debates different strategies to death, and never actual gets to the point where it can put forth something reasonable to sell to the public. There has to be a marketable plan behind that moral argument. Can't they just settle on "hey, lets have an election week, rather than an election day. We'll count them up on the first Tuesday after the first Monday in November." I realize there are costs with this expansion, but since America is such a patchwork of weird laws that include early voting, I'm confident we can figure it out.

Wow. I’d say he’s great fun at parties.
(Kinda doubt he’s ever been to a party. Or met that many young people.)

Same here in WA.4/5 wrote:Okay more complete answer:That Tuesday after the first Monday in November thing is federal law. So it's up to states still--they're in charge of most things about elections--but Congress has passed federal laws specifying that as the date. States can make it a holiday, however. They can also expand early voting, etc. I think Oregon mails everybody in the state a ballot. So states have a lot of freedom to make voting easier, but it would probably take a new congressional law to change the official election day.Article 1 wrote:The Times, Places and Manner of holding Elections for Senators and Representatives, shall be prescribed in each State by the Legislature thereof; but the Congress may at any time by Law make or alter such Regulations, except as to the Places of chusing Senators.
