Dems tried to focus on issues like the economy and immigration. Reps demagogued the issue. Blame them. Blame them for fighting a battle against citizens who have every right to be here.

It's a minor issue that exposes gaping holes in the idiotic ideology dominating the Democratic donor class, and since the Democrats are so completely taken over by those activists and dedicated to casting out any wrong thinkers from the party, they became incapable of taking the obviously popular (and correct) position, so Republicans were smart to pounce on it and take it themselves.

I believe the bold part to be unfairly generous. There is ample evidence of Democratic leadership abdicating their assigned responsibilities — and I’m thinking specifically about legislative committee assignments, as well as issues they campaigned on — to push an inclusivity agenda that, while hypothetically warranted vis-a-vis everything else you write, has often been so far outside the lane of their assigned tasks and carried significant collateral damage for their constituents.

While fully acknowledging that Dems have been sub-par (at best) at messaging, I would argue that your frustrated experience with this is based entirely on media and not actual Democratic working.

For starters, see Zooey Zephyr, a transgender female Democrat who served on Montana’s HHS and Judiciary committees, and was tasked with crafting legislation that impacted drug addicts and the elderly; but instead led over 100 supporters in a hostile LGBTQ-oriented protest in our state capital that derailed the final days of our biannual legislature, scuttling a variety of bills in the process.

Ah. So you have a different bias. That makes sense, then.

What is the bias you perceive? My experience is that MT is the most elderly state in the nation and has one of the highest rates of addiction and resultant suicide.

That you live there and I have no idea what media is like there. But I can't imagine Higgs has seen any of what you're taking about.
