What does your brother think of the production on the songs thus far?
He is a hipster. While he enjoyed the PJ show I took him to when he was like 14, I don't think they are on his radar and I'm not going to ask him to listen to it until I have the whole album in some kind of decent (for what it is) format.
whats his opinion on Ice Spice´s fart song?
*fart masterpiece
can you separate the fart from the fartist?

It does, and I'm not saying a good song can't get captured poorly. My point is more in terms of judging how an album succeeds, that thinking about the production seems as important as judging any other decision the band makes in terms of how a song sounds. Whether or not the guitars sound like shit, for example, seems as important (or almost as important) as what the guitar player is actually playing, especially because presumably the musician and/or producer have put thought into both of those things.

My sound engineer bro is going to listen to Dark Matter (song) and report back. When I spoke with him, he mentioned an artist his wife represents (she's in PR)- Molly Lewis. That lady can WHISTLE. She's like a theramin. Crazy.

they certainly all enhance the quality of a song. A well recorded song is better than a poorly recorded one. better guitar tones are preferable to lesser. more engaging riffs than less engaging. better vocal melodies or lyrics over less. which of these things matter more to you will vary- but for me they are probably noticeably less than the song writing choices (or the voice of the singer - probably what matters most to me)

especially if the overall vibe and atmosphere is what drew you to him. It’s rarely been what matters most to me about pearl jam. id probably place a whole bunch of priorities above it.

im not saying it cant matter or be important. its a variable among many
