Was it really though? I mean the fans are fans and a simple "Have your memberships up to date" or " Tour dates will be announced" would have more than sufficed to generate fan traffic. This is some trumped up self indulgent marketing campaign. It screams of a build up or a shout out to fringe fans and casuals of " Hey we still matter!". It even made some news broadcasts. I just don't see how these dates and this announcement constitute as "Huge" as they put it several times.

I'm annoyed. The sad part is all it would have taken was some formal acknowledgment of a single/album/title to make this countdown worth it. Maybe it's me being fickle .
