Just a new range of 2013 tour merchandise.
I would actually be impressed if the band broke up a year ago and decided to go out with a bang by doing an extended punking of their longtime fans.

Is it? As many have said before, we have gotten this same type of information via much simpler and direct means time and time again. This week countdown to huge news was a bust.

yeah, I suspect the real issue here is that people are bummed they no longer do massive tours.
Not even that. They could do far more interesting tours in 20-25 shows than their "par-for-the course" east coast/west coast stops.
at least they hit the south this time

Right. The gimmick was poorly designed and ended up a dud. But anyone who was actually expecting Pearl Jam to make some mind-blowing marketing leap at this point never had a chance at not being let down. Liking Pearl Jam at this stage tends to elicit more groans, grunts, and eye rolls from folks than it does excitement about anything they've done in the past 15 years. A countdown clock wasn't suddenly going to change that. It was lame before the announcement was even made 90 minutes ago.
But if you're still invested enough to feel a brief pang of disappointment at this, you should also be pleased enough to know that there's new music coming. And if you're here talking about all of this, isn't that really what you want most?
I don't think most people wanted anything mind-blowing. They just wanted some definitive album news which, to my knowledge, has consistently been a mum topic from the Ten Club. I'd have to look it up but it seems like all of the recent "little birdie", fan club announcements, etc have been related to tours. I think people were hoping for something different here given the obvious attempt to create a buzzworthy build-up.

But, as everyone is so found of mentioning, it's been four years. They were just trying to build some excitement in the community. And it's not so absurd to think that community would care about a tour. Especially since the band is so highly regarded (right or wrong) as one of the best touring bands around.

The customer expects good service. It's the customer's own fault when he doesn't get it. Some people will do anything to defend this band.

Doesn't seem like bad service to me. Just seems like a product you're not interested in.

I don't disagree on the specifics of any of that, I just think it's plain to everyone at this point that new album news is coming very soon. Again, shitty strategy on their part, but we know what's coming next, even if we wanted it first.

harmless, are you a fan club member? if so, do one of three things.
1) complain about said service to the club organizers
2) stop paying for said service from the club organizers
3) take what you get from the club organizers

Bands tour. Pearl Jam is a touring band. Would I have loved an album announcement? Of course. But this isn't it. Fine. I just don't see what all the vitriol is about. I haven't seen them on stage in years. I'm pretty fucking pumped that they're coming to Brooklyn.

They'll be doing a countdown for each letter of the album title spaced out 3 days apiece.

I get not really thinking it's a big deal, but I don't see how anyone could read this other than, at least, extremely moronic marketing skills on the part of the PJ camp. It's not simply 'we don't want what they're selling.'

It's an inside job today.

I'm unsure whether I like the faster one but its definately interesting. The slower darker one could be cool, it kinda sounds like an ed song to me, kinda simple repeating pattern. I wouldn't be suprised if its a non album instrumental though.
