I had honestly thought Val Kilmer had already passed. RIP. He had some great roles. Enough for us to overlook Batman.

In Heat, After McCauley(DeNiro) and his crew seem to successfully pull off another bank robbery, they’re intercepted by Hanna(Pacino) and the LAPD out on the street, leading to a gunfight. This shootout sequence was so authentic and so detailed that it has been shown to U.S. Marine recruits as an example of perfect form under gunfire (via Esquire). In a behind-the-scenes featurette about Heat’s L.A. bank heist gunfight sequence, Val Kilmer says he had heard that when the moment his character reloads, Marine trainers tell recruits, “If you can’t change a clip as fast as this actor, get out of my army!”

Everyone I know who saw it fucking loved it and watched it multiple times. It’s an A+ 80s comedy. It’s universally adored, just criminally under seen.

i have to say at this point when I think of Val Kilmer, I think of MacGruber. I feel like I got to know him in that movie. The real him. That movie is such a blast and he was so funny in it. No ego. Just hilarious.
