It might be their best song

I wouldnt go that far but the humour in it never gets old and Ed's singing is great in it.

Ok couldn’t resist listening. I’m digging it.

Sounds like it could really take off at the end of the clip. Very QOTSA mixed with Lost Dogs. Love Eds vocals - very reminiscent of something he’d come up with in the Jack Irons era. Hope everything surrounding it is worthwhile.

Also, this sounds like something either Mike or Matt would come up with.

I’d put it just below The Offspring’s “Gone Away.”

I’m not getting how this 18 second clip is similar to Hitchhiker. Are people just basing this on the layered vocals?

Guys, just go hang out in the Grimes thread with me until this full song is released.

For me it's the vocals but also the playfulness of the riff

the single-note arpeggio surfy riff, fun not "grungy"; Ed's melody notes sung in a lower register ("Superblood Wolfmoon" can be sung to "Hitchhiker"), and the swag drum groove

I don't like the new song and she's dating a venture capitalist

I like the clip and I'm looking forward to the album more and more. Good job on the Hitchhiker references team. It's a great song, and based on what I'm hearing I think Superblood Wolfmoon will be right up my ally too. Is any one else picking up a slight Sonic Reducer vibe? The guitar tones on both songs are so much better than anything on BS or LB; Ed also sounds great on both songs. Him not being so front and center is just what was needed. Neither song sounds sterile (like the last two albums and various songs between) and I'm getting a bit of a garage rock feeling, and that feeling makes me happy. Yet it's not garage rock because it seems to be more layered / nuanced. Whatever it is, I'm on board. This is easily the most I've been exited about Pearl Jam in a decade.

this is a good write up! I also love the fact that Ed's voice is finally sitting back in the mix, so he's part of a band and not The Ed Show

This Ed voice is the best Ed voice, and this general tone is Pearl Jam's best tone. Straight out of '00-'04.

exactly, and now if he also finally dialed back on his wordiness on this album, oh boy...

The best Ed voice is in Vs and VItalogy, by far.

I'm confused.

Not hearing Hitchhiker in this clip at all.

This is a good catchy riff & If the initial impressions are correct, and there's a monster McCready solo on this one ...Look out!!
This one could be a firecracker.

Also, I like what I've been hearing so far from Eddie. The vocals aren't strained, he sounds good!! and his vocals on DOTC, River Cross, & this seem to be more of an accompaniment rather than too up front like the past 2 albums.

I don't remember being all this thrilled by clips from either Backspacer, or Lighting Bolt.
